I am excited about the potential a well maintained forum may provide for ideas, tools and tricks. Thanks, Shannon and Tommy, for the hard work.

Thanks for all the support everyone! Tommy and I were talking before we did all this and looking at ways that we could help grow the gaming community in this area, and looking at the other forums / sites that we frequent... we figured "hey we can do that too"... we have so many great players around here that could all contribute tactics and ideas... the best forums we found were where everyone seemed active in keeping the conversations going and tossing around alot of ideas.... .... we've all invested alot of time, money, and energy into this hobby (even those of us who have just recently started out) and our collective thoughts on how to improve the hobby in our area can only serve to make everyone's game better - and all of us to have alot more fun! I for one am really liking the sharing of ideas, and seeing other perspectives... thanks to everyone for all your ideas thus far... keep them coming!

Just a quick note to sum up the first week of the board being up....
In one week, we've managed to have 50 total topics posted! 297 individual posts! and 24 registered members of this site!
I just want to say thanks to everyone for coming on board with this idea (hey, was that a pun?) and sharing all your ideas and input to hopefully make this a great forum for gaming!
Thanks!
Shannon

If I may sound whiny and grasping for just a moment, please bare with me. I am hoping that people can take some time and comment on lists etc...more often. I am relatively new and am hoping to learn from all of you out there.
Enough whining....
I think this forum has great potential to be a sight where people new to the hobby can get the direction they need to have alot of fun.

Well as of today it's been a month that the board has been active....
We've got 41 members, 184 Topics, and 1595 posts!
And according to the stats program that comes with this, we're averaging 1,000 page-views on any given day (highest pageviews in June was over 1800)
we're averaging around 55 guests to the site per day in addition to registered users
so I just want to say thanks to everyone for coming on board with this idea, and adding some great ideas, tactics, lists, and everything else everyone has been contributing!
We'll continue to add features to the forum that you feel are needed, and hopefully this continues to grow!
Thanks! ;D ;D

Shannon, This is fantastic and it's great to see Kingston evolving to the online world. I can check the boards any time my day is dull and think about improving my list, setting up the next game session or just enjoying a good read. I'd love to see this continue, if you require any help let me know. I do this type of stuff for a living and if you have any technical questions or questions about what's possible in general let me know and i'll do my best to help out any way I can. Some ideas -Set up a web domain (.com or more appropriately, a .org for kingston) -Website with blog news / tournament scores / profiles / galleries for our mini's -link to the board from the site -Some standardized listing / method of tracking our player games and stats from tournament games -instill fear into all other cities. fear the Kingston Warhammer! =) I propose www.kingstonwarhammer.org (available) This rocks!

If it was to continue to evolve, I would propose something that represents the near region, including Belleville, Gananoque, & Brockville.

I've been thinking about the whole tourney tracking thing.... and ways in which this could be done... Nexus is encorporating scoring charts into all their tournaments... so the raw data at least from tournies at Nexus are all there....
but then it comes to which tourney results are recorded and which are not... and how this "ranking" would be maintained and used.... (ie: do we start making sure that top ranked players go against each other in tournies to more accurately reflect who's "top general"?)
I was hoping that people would be posting their minis in the appropriate section (painting) of the forum... and if we get enough posts, we could combine these into a gallery (this first month it's been a pretty slow section of the site - but I'm hoping this picks up!!! - also feel free to start up a painting log there! great way to inspire others, and keep us all with the brushes to the plastic!)
As for representing the "near region"... what were you thinking Jon?

Well, I'm still early in the process of gathering information, making contacts, and organizing things... which has been difficult since I've actually been out of town for so long now. However, I should be back in roughly a week, so I'll try to put together a few ideas and send them out to you, Matt, Mike, etc, to see what people think. Just might take a couple more weeks, is all.
To quickly answer your question, though, I think it would be cool to have a consolidated website for areas that lie between but outside the immediate spheres of influence of Ottawa and Toronto.

Where else, between Toronto and Ottawa do people play Warhammer? It's just the Nexus isn't it? Of course, Kingston & Surrounding Area would include Brockville / Belleville etc. Trenton has their own thing, and probably our closest compadre's.

...as you say, Trenton, but surprisingly, a few other places as well!
