How is Darktide going for you guys? Fun, worth the buy and sacrificing painting productivity?

I played the pre-order beta and greatly enjoyed it. Haven't had the time to play the full release yet though.
For what it's worth, this is with the steam version of the game.

It's pretty awesome. Essentially left for dead in 40k. Cool missions / maps and lots of flavour to the characters you get to play (still looking for a siege shield for my ogryn - but having lots of fun with his ripper gun!). so many people are playing at any given time that it's easy to get in a match.
I'm really enjoying it. And I kinda suck at these games lol.

I've been waiting for this almost a year after the original launch date was pushed back.
My body is ready.

So, I've been able to play the full release version a bit now. Here are some early thoughts.
GOOD:
1.) I enjoy the coherency mechanics, as it gives incentive to stick together as a team, and thus helps reduce cases of people running off way ahead of the group because they think they are all gun-ho, and then getting killed (Not just this game, but any Left 4 Dead style game has this issue).
2.) The scenery (When you have time to take it in) is amazing. You really get and idea for how big a hive city can be in some areas.
3.) I like that we can make our own character, and that by doing so the game allows us to have multiples of the same class in the group, unlike Vermintide, in which only only one player can be the soldier, only one can be the dwarf, etc. Here, it's fully possible to have 4 ogryns in a group, as an example. I'm a preacher, and have on two occasions had an all preacher party.
4.) I like that there is toughness (Which regenerates), and health (Which doesn't). Toughness acts like armour in old FPS games (Like the original Doom as an example), in which it makes you take less health damage. It regenerates when close to teammates (Once again, I enjoy the coherency stuff). Health is your standard video game thing, run out and you die. The toughness bar means that even if you only have 2 hit points left, you can still fight without worry of a stiff breeze killing you. Don't get me wrong, you are still on deaths door, but at least you have a fighting chance until you get healed.
All in all, I'm really enjoying the game. That being said, lets move onto the bad.
BAD:
1.) Microtransactions. It's mostly for cosmetics, but it still irks me.
Can't think of too much to put here to be honest. I've heard reports of poor performance, but at max settings my PC is running it really well.
Well, onto the rest. This next part isn't bad or good, just some observations.
OTHER:
1.) Character creation takes away from, well, the characters. In Vermintide, when the characters would talk, you got the sense that they had been fighting together for a while and knew each other well. There was jokes between them, regular banter, etc. Since you make your own character, and the game needs to account for things like an all ogryn party, the banter is more generic and bland. That being said, the mission operators get to chime in on the vox net (Something that couldn't be done in Vermintide), and good lord, the tech priest must have installed a sass module or something, hahaha. Regardless, your mileage may vary on this.
Well, I can't think of what else to say at the moment. Hopefully this wasn't too long. I'll have more thoughts as I get to play more.

All my thoughts above aside, I just can't stress enough of how sassy the tech priest is. You'd think they (I think this one is female?) would be cold and emotionless, so I'm glad the developers did differently.
That being said, I am aware that there are examples of tech priests with emotions, I just honestly didn't expect it here. Maybe that's why I find it so humorous?

I'm absolutely loving my first few missions. All the best parts of Payday and Borderlands with all the worse parts removed imo.
Loving the Psyker so far. But I'll definitely be rolling a sharpshooter soon tho.

Historically, I've avoided these types of games because, despite 10+ years of mmo experience, I'm a solo gamer by nature.
How is the community/gameplay experience with randoms so far?

Ive played exclusively with randoms (don't know anyone I can play with, hahaha), and it's gone well. Granted, I'm at the somewhat lower to mid difficulty levels. As I said in my previous post, the coherency stuff (bonuses you get for being close to teammates) encourages people to stick together rather than to rush forward Leroy Jenkins style.
