I am really looking forward to a weekend of 40K and Sigmar!
Thinking of going back to my Stormcast roots for this one but run models that I haven't used this Edition. Almost no shooting. and no Dragons/Fulminators. What are folks's thoughts on facing this:
Knight Excelsior (Paladins are Battleline)
Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger (I think he looks great if you don't mind me bragging) Knight Incantor Lord Castellant (conversion that I only fielded once) Lord Imperitant
Annihilators with Grand Hammers Annihilators with Grand Hammers Annihilatrs Retributors Retributors Vanquishers
Vanguard Palladors Aetherwings Aetherwings

I think this is a solid list, with the Annihilators getting in that close deep strike.

I think this is a solid list, with the Annihilators getting in that close deep strike. Not flexing, but is it too much? I usually rely on Longstrikes and Fulminators to spike damage where and when I want, so I am trying for something a little different. My other option is a Sequitor/Evocator list with shooting support.

I don't think it's too much... it's got some tricks, but I don't think it's overwhelming or anything.

Looks like a good list. My Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger has been involved in some way or another with 90% of the battle tactics I have scored this season.
I have not seen Retributors on the field before, had to look up their stats. They are pretty impressive.
A couple thoughts. Annihilators, even the shield ones, are pretty fragile. I have found you have to pick your target, probably kill it, and then assume they are gone. A couple opponents have been good at screening out the deep strike although that may be army dependent. My Stormcast don't have enough models to even try to keep you from getting behind in any meaningful way. With 3 units and the Imperitant only giving one 7" charge per turn it kind of forces you to drop one annihilator per turn. Opponents see them sitting beside the table and get super cagey so they may not have a good target every turn. Not necessarily a problem but something to keep in mind. Can be an advantage if a unit of Grandhammers left them traumatized at some point in the past.
The aetherwings feel out of place. I know with most of the army moving 4" it is important to have some speed but are they actually going to be contributing or do you have something else that could participate a bit more to the combat phase for those 140 points.

I've had three squads of Annihilators painted up for a while, but they've been riding the pine instead of the lightening for the reasons you've listed (although I did take a squad once to see how they do). In my competitive lists I have always opted for Longstrikes and Fulminators. Looking to switch things up...
Which brings me to the Aetherwings. They can indeed help Longstrikes, but I also found that they give me cheap (expendable) screens and Battle Tactic achievers. No damage per point, but VP per point.
Glad to hear that the Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger has done some good work - his mobility is great and this season calls for that along with magic.

Debating bringing in a nurgle monster mash, or my new ironjawz with maw krusha... At least both of them are very jovial factions bringing christmas cheer!
One problem that I'm having is that I feel like I'm leaning into herohammer too hard with my lists, both of them would be ~1000pts of heroes + monsters. What do y'all think about those kinds of lists?

Still on the waitlist for Secret Santa and don't know if I can do both. I may be a last minute addition with either OBR or Hedonites of Slaanesh.
Well see - not the biggest fan of OBR with the battle tactics of this season. OBRs book ones are so bad.

What do y'all think about those kinds of lists? I'm personally ok with it... Lots of my Seraphon monsters are heros as well... Usually three of my leaders are 1000 points lol (Kroak/slann, carnosaur/stegadon etc). Either way, should be fun!

The models are gorgeous! It's just the battle tactics require specific units to do specific things. So you are forced to bring those units. The battle tactics on this season are hard to complete so books with easy tactics are better. That being said - I can hope that next season or edition the battle tactics change!

You guys and your good battle tactics. Play Stormcast and call me when "... all the objectives wholly within your opponent's territory are contested by friendly Cities of Sigmar units at the end of this turn." Re: Nurgle hero monsters. I find the big monsters fun to play against and have no problems with a hero heavy army. Especially one as characterful as Nurgle.

Tommy is pretty pumped for this. Unfortunately I have a work commitment in the morning so will not be able to provide a wack-a-mole zombie apocalypse army for everyone to kill (again....and again😄). Sadness. Will see everyone in the aft though as I relieve warhammer mom at around noon.
