Great news... a sign up option is on the Nexus website: www.kingstonnexus.ca/events/?event_id=4This will not only sign you up, but automatically put your name in the Nexus ranking system... ...please note, this campaign is run through Nexus directly (not your usual suspects who run the tournies!) so the Nexus site and store will be the only way to sign up for the escalation campaign.... This is a great opportunity to either get an army built, or we can also use it as a painting inspiration as well - I'm going to try and bring fully painted each week as a way to "encourage" myself to get my entire army painted... 200 points a week should be not so bad to paint up! From what I understand, if you can't make it down Saturdays, Nexus will have two store armies made up for the point level each week, so you will have an opponent, all you have to do is make it down to Nexus! (and yes, all games are there, as this is a store promotion thing) There's no specific time to play from what I understand, and with such low points at the beginning, it won't take much time to play those two games... oh, I believe there's prizes too....

Yeah for sure but with my boy also coming in July its gonna be hard for me to play two games a week for at least two or three weeks and nobody answer about what happen if you can do 2 games a week. I dont like the idea of not being there at 100% and dont want to penalize some poeple because I cant do my 2 games.

.....far as I understand it if you don't play a game, you just don't get a battle point... there doesn't appear to be any negative consequence to missing any of the games, and it doesn't negatively impact the other players (as it's not like the fantasy campaign with challenges / map etc.)
There will definitely be times over the 10 week period where I won't be able to get a game in either...

rules are up on the nexus site for first week rules....
copied below:
Set-Up and Deployment Use a four-foot square table, which is divided into quarters. Roll-off to see which player goes first. The first player chooses his square and deploys all his units within his square, all at least 9″ from the center. Then the second player deploys in the opposite (diagonal) square. No reserve units are allowed.
First Turn Roll a d6. On a 2 or higher, the player that deployed first goes first. On a 1, the opposing player seizes initiative and goes first.
Game Length and Victory Conditions The battle continues until one side has been reduced to half its starting number of models or less. Once a player’s army has been reduced to half strength he must take a Leadership test at the start of each of his turns. If he fails the test his army flees and the other player wins the battle. If the test is passed then the battle continues, but at the start of every turn the player must continue to make Leadership tests. Leadership tests are always taken using the highest Leadership of any of the player’s surviving models. Apply a -1 modifier to the second test that a player has to take, a -2 modifier to the third test, etc.
Special Rules Every man for himself: all models operate as individual units in this mission, even if they were chosen as part of a squad or squadron. In addition, when a model shoots or fights in an assault it may split up its attacks amongst any eligible targets if desired.
Specialist troopers: each player is allowed to pick up to three different models in their army as being “specialists” that benefit from one of the universal special rules in the Warhammer 40K rulebook. Each player picks their specialists out loud at the start of the mission, before the armies deploy. Each specialist counts as having one of the universal special rules. You must say which rule applies when you declare the model is a specialist. For example, you might say “This specialist is Fearless.” Keep a note as to which rule applies to each specialist. All specialists on the same side must pick different universal special rules, and you may not give more than one specialist rule to each model.

First games were interesting and fun - have never played the battle missions before. I got lucky fighting evil chaos space marines (tyranids aren't evil - they're misunderstood). One ravener killed 1-2 terminators and shook my opponents landraider twice to keep it from shooting! Lucky rolls. Also I managed to roll well for the leadership test to see if your force flees after the loss of half the units, long enough that the CSM failed their roll.
Tommy's IG were tough for my tyranid with all the guardsmen being individual units, and though his forces had a difficult time trying to hurt my Zoanthrope it eventually succumbed to the mass fire. Good games.

Yeah. My Termie army did very well against the Land Raider force, which it could close with and rip up fairly easily. The Guard gave me fits, as they outnumbered me 5 to 1, and I could only kill 1 a turn. The fact that I couldn't shoot down a guy and then still charge another really caused me trouble. I'd kill a single guy then get rapid-fired by 30 the next turn.

some info I found out....
you don't have to just play on Saturdays! (the store has an army they'll play against anyone)
You don't have to just play at Nexus!!! (the biggest news to me)... just email your and your opponents' results to Ali....
