I have been eyeing up the Orc team, as of late. The concept of the game has always held appeal. Is there anyone who still plays?

I've seen blood bowl be played upon initial re-launch (and was greeted with great anticipation by Mike from Nexus as this is his favourite game) but honestly haven't seen it played in a long time.
I know that there's quite a few people with the game though. Someone must play it!

Hrm. It has been years since I played any games with Mike. I shall have to chat with him about this.

I love blood bowl and have 3 teams as of now. Would love to get a game in but it's definitely not one of those games you pick up every week community wise as far as I know
I have the orcs (well half of an optimal team) if you wanna give it a try, that way you can see if you enjoy it before you wanna go all in and put some money into it

I have plans to head down to the shop, next Tuesday, to get a run down of the game. Maybe Tuesday nights might be an option for playing on a semi-regular basis, given it is more of a board game than "Table top"? If others want to come down and join in, I will not stop them.
I have a feeling that I might be picking up a box of Orcs, eventually.

I'm unfortunately not going to be in town for the next few weeks but that sounds reasonable. I'll post here and maybe we can get a game of bloodbowl in sometime:)

I will be heading down to the store between 5 and 6. I already have a game set up, as an intro, but I doubt that will take all night.

Had a decent time playing, last night. I will be heading back down on Thorsday evening, if anyone wants to get a game in.

Oof! I am not sure I am ready to branch in to AoS. To be honest, there has never been much of a draw, for me, to that game (and its previous iterations) *shrugs* AoS minis hold more appeal for kitbashing for 40k Orks, than assembling them proper.
I could use the BloodBowl Orks as a sort of feral-'Ard Boyz. Could I get away with just claiming them to be equipped with a slugga, for 40k? Would people care?
Regardless, I am picking up an Orc team, on Thorsday, and will be down at the store and could get a game in, if someone was so inclined.

AOS and 40k are so similar right now I'm actually messing up the rules a lot (because there's maybe 4-5 differences at this point!) If you're around on Thursday anyways, take a look

Ah, well, that is an interesting tidbit. I may take a look at a game or two. So is it, pretty much, 40k without guns? I will take a look, but I would not hold much hope that an interest will develop.
(Really, though, even committing to BloodBowl is going to push my limits for a while. Still, very much, trying to minimize the stress I put on myself and mitigate the risk of yet another meltdown.)

fair enough! I agree there's only so much time to play the game systems you like, never mind adding more!
AOS is magic instead of psykers (but the same mechanics on how to cast/dispel), more combat focused than shooting focused, and basically not very many "big guns" (lascannons etc.) and instead of tanks etc. you have monsters. but it's still a round based, 2k army style game with to hit, to wound, saves, etc.
all rules for the armies and units are free online, including the main rules for the game (all four pages of them).
If you play 40k, adjusting to AOS takes about 10 minutes and you know 90% of the rules...lol
(sorry for taking your blood bowl post off topic... I should know better than that right? )

Well, it stemmed from a BloodBowl-based topic (using minis in other GW games).
Fair point, though, about picking up the game quickly. Getting back in to 40k has been mostly a case of remembering stat-lines and abilities, while the core game has been much easier to get back in to. BloodBowl has, also, been fairly simple to pick up. Albeit, after years of gaming, I suspect that many folks can get the basics of a new game from unit stats, while if is going to be finicky things (like LoS, cover, etc) that are less... Intuitive.
There are just too many factors, at this point in my life, that limit my ability to take on multiple big games. Cost, storage space, cognitive capacity, etc. Ugh... Damnit... Pardon me while I vomit excuses all over the place... ONE THING AT A TIME, THOMAS! Yes, no, I would love to be able to get in to more games and playing more often, were reality not such a factor.
(Sorry for the malarkey)
