I feel like a ban on Forgeworld across all/most tournaments would be overkill, just because Forgeworld dreadnoughts are currently too powerful. There are lots of fun and interesting units that people love bringing, that have never been issues - at this weekend's tag team tournament alone, my partner and I saw Wraithseers, XV9 Hazard Support Teams, Tesseract Arks, Firesight Marksmen... none of these units posed an issue. We brought a Termite Assault Drill ourselves, and the most damage it did (aside from delivering units with short-ranged firepower) was to kill a few Necron destroyers. Up until the publication of Duty Eternal, I never had an issue with Forgeworld dreadnoughts either.
Personally, I think we should wait and see what this year's Chapter Approved brings.

We can wait till after CA comes out in November as FW stuff will get a points rework as they always do. If they somehow don't touch that scary levi we could make a choice of what to allow. 90% of FW stuff right now isn't good so it sucks when there is 1 model that completely ruins it.

...does anyone actually take the 90% of "not good" forgeworld though? or are the only FW units taken the other 10%?

I have Forgeworld stuff, but I don't often consider bringing it on Saturdays because they're Lords of War.
And when a LoW hits the table I find it always goes one of two ways: my opponent doesn't really have the right guns to deal with the model and I run him over; or he does and the list just crumbles.
Not exactly the most enjoyable sort of games for the people involved.

...does anyone actually take the 90% of "not good" forgeworld though? or are the only FW units taken the other 10%? I take the Termite Assault Drill - which I think is good, but not ridiculous. Until its release I used to take the stupid Dreadclaw Drop Pod, which definitely falls into the "90%". It's hard to get combi-plasma chosen and rotor cannon havocs into range without it. I have 3 laser destroyer vindicators, due to my vindicator fetish. I have a few Moirax Armigers, which I certainly don't think are too strong. Friends of mine have tesseract arks, wraithseers, big trakks, mega dreads, and a lot of other fun units that definitely aren't optimal, competitive choices. I'd really hate to lose access to all that, just because the stupid relic dreadnoughts are too strong.

I could get behind a no-Forgeworld tourney.

I could get behind a no-Forgeworld tourney. There just happens to be one coming up. The secret Santa tournament is a none forgeworld tournament

The FAQ is out for iron hands and raven guard. Big changes for iron hands, iron stone only works on one vehicle and the 5++ bubble is only for infantry.

Umm where do you see that? the faq ive seen only changes the strat to make a dread a character (march of the ancients) to once per battle and then has some clarification interactions with duty eternal and iron stone, guy ferri buffing a braketed vehicle and making a dread your warlord and then making them a character they get a warlord trait. Edit: never mind i see others talking about it for some reason i dont get faqs when everyone else does or updates until way later so i guess mine will update to include those at some point

On a space marine related topic, has anyone used reavers? I've never seen a list field them, and I'm wondering if it's because everyone collectively decided they were bad or if experience has shown they aren't worth taking.

They're noted as not being great in most Codex lists because they don't have any of the things that the Primaris gunlines actually want right now. They're seeing more success in older codexes though, like Space Wolves and Blood Angels, mainly because of the buffs they get to assaulting, as is their role.
I've toyed with using some, maybe even running a Stalker Pack, but haven't gone with it yet. The idea of it is certainly tempting, and having more troops on flank boxing in deployment would play in nice to what I've been running with.
