So I have been sitting on about 120 32mm bases so that I could start to rebase my orks. Does any one have any experience in large quantity re-basing? I have a couple ideas
1. Cheap, quick and tall: Take the old base, glue it to the center of the new base then paint and build up the new base to match. Seems super quick and easy, but then all my models will be a bit taller than normal and will stay with the base scheme I ready have.
2. medium speed and messy: take the old bases and press them to a belt sander to remove the "height" of the base so only the flocked top is left and glue it to the new base, then paint and flock outside of new base to match. This would take a bit more time and still leaves the general base scheme the same, but would make the model look the same height as normal.
3. The slow and steady: I would carefully pop 100 boyz off the old base and build up new bases for them and then attach them to a new base. Mostly this one just takes a lot of time and a bunch of my orks are 2nd hand assembled so I'm not sure how there were attached to the bases (super, hot shot, white, plastic glues). Would get me a chance to move away from the snow theme I had if I wanted to try something different.
any one have a suggestion that I've missed when it comes to re-basing?

If keeping the existing basing is important, then a variation on #2 is what I would do - using clippers instead of a belt sander.
If you want to rebase them, then popping them off their bases is likely to net you the results you desire.
If you want them done and are not concerned with appearances, than option 1 seems a totally acceptable option.

clip them off the old base and put them on new ones. takes longer but looks way better. anytime I've tried a shortcut to save time I always regret it afterwards if it doesn't look quite right...

I agree with Shannon, you'll thank yourself in the long run for taking the time, plus, with a sharp pair of side cutters, it'll be a fairly quick process and will allow you to modify your basing theme if you want to.

When I did 100 Necron Immortals. I clipped the “height part” of the base one snip perpendicular 6 times around the base and then bent it back. It makes a mess Over time of small black bits. . Then I sanded the bottom of the base so that it was flat. (Some bases have a small bulb on the bottom) and then glued it to the 32mm base. I found the necrons Ahmad small ankles and when I tried to clip them off or wiggle them free the feet would stay on the base.
