Just as an update, so you don't think I've been slacking over the last month I put together:
1 indomitus set of marines 3 indomitus sets of necrons 2 doomstalkers silent king 2 heavy destroyers wraithknight 2 wraithlords 10 wraithblades 1 war walker hemlock wraithfighter spiritseer
and primed (not painted but close) the silent king, destroyers, doomstalkers, plasmancer, lord and 60 warriors
but sadly all that work isn't worth even one point in painting progress...lol... soon...very soon

So impressed. What is your plan for the Necrons? custom dynasty or more and improved Yellow bots?

Lol...not yellow
I'm thinking copper / brass as the main armor gold trim... Have to still pick an appropriate glow color

Strangely enough, I feel like a nice bright green would work well with those colours. A good excuse to see if the tesseract glow is worth it's salt.
Or you could do fluorescent pink.
I'm going with a bright orange for mine, with blue armour plates and blue tinted metal base.

Looking good. Love the scheme. why thanks... it was inspired by the thrashing they took at the hands of your slaanesh... they've essentially converted. (the collar symbol is actually pink, not that you can tell by the pic)

thanks!
Yeah I do my basecoating with an airbrush as I suck at blending. Like i'm terrible at it and have tried a bunch but could never really get it to look right. Airbrush makes that super easy.
I still have to do all the detail work by brush (there's people that can do fancy stuff with the airbrush but I'm not that skilled!) but I highly recommend an airbrush for getting the basecoats done - and with the great unclean one his skin was a pretty huge portion of the model, so getting that done quickly with an airbrush makes a big difference. Let me do the green for his skin with three different greens that I could blend together to give shadows and some contrast before getting the wash in there.
Basecoating is pretty boring part of painting so I like to get it done as efficiently as possible. Other people use those colour primers from army painter then add washes, then do details, which is the same kind of principal, I just like the different gradients and blends that the airbrush can give you.
Lukas had arranged an airbrushing workshop last year through Nexus and it was probably the single thing that has elevated my painting, as I actually had a tool that I could use that was better than my clumsy hands... Thanks Lukas!
As an example my first lord of change (which I do like) was painted all brush, while the second was done with the airbrush... saved me SO much time and looks alot better (even though I really am proud of my other one too)
