I can see the benefits of using an air brush especially for laying down a base coat evenly. Unfortunately I dont have an area where i could set up even a small spray booth, plus I got really young kids so it would need to be really well ventilated. I think that's the biggest hindrance for me is getting all the base layers on with a good opacity. plus chaos marines really like their million miles of trim that's needs to be touched up once the base is down.

Yeah that's the unfortunate part, the trim still needs to be done! lol
I don't have a spray booth... I literally just airbrush at my painting desk. I wear a mask (as I'm pretty close up to where the paint is spraying) but there are FAR less fumes than say using a rattlecan (which stink up the whole house).
During the airbrush workshop at Nexus there was about 15 people airbrushing the entire weekend in the back of Nexus with no problems for ventilation.

thanks! trying to get something I can replicate quickly, and do alot with the airbrush... cuz I have about 100 or so models to paint with the scheme (60 of them warriors!). The gradients for the metallic colours kind of all morphed together once I did the filter stage though... it's at least distinguishable in person... but muted it quite a bit... oh well, guess they're muted!

ANy tips for Assembly. I just picked one up yesterday. sub-assembly it for certain. I left the characters and the silent king's robe off, but I seriously should have done it in a couple more sections just for painting ease. The characters are honestly the worst part of the assembly - specifically the neck pieces where it joins to the head. Also there's a few pieces that only are supposed to be one way, but fit both right side and upside down... be sure before you glue!
