As 2020 has now officially hit, and we will be getting more new models soon, I will announce my personal painting challenge for 2020. However, I do still have some stuff to get ready for club champs. My painting years almost invariably work like the fiscal year system, Club Champs to Club Champs. With that in mind, and with the desire to greatly increase my painting score for CC 2021, I will not be doing any massive point limit, rather focusing on quality over quantity.
I will likely get around 3k worth done, enough for some options as playtesting goes on.
2020 will be the Year of the Ecclesiarchy!

As I am in the planning stages of this army, I want to take the time to ask if anyone has used the new contrast paints yet? I dont want to use them on existing armies, as it will certainly make them look weird, but with a whole new army I'm considering it. Any recommendations?

far as I've heard, the primer is the key to getting the best effect... other primers work just not as good final product. almost like gw designed it that way to sell their special primer...hmmmm

I can see that lol. I'm just wondering if it is actually as good as promoted or if it's a nightmare/messy to use

easy to use... weirdly enough it gives the most vibrant color with one thick coat rather than successive thin coats.
I personally think brush work /airbrush gives a better overall result but contrast gives a decent result insanely quick..... and you can always use brushwork on top of contrast to up your result.

I’ve started a heresy era colour scheme World Eaters army that I’m doing with contrast. I’ve only used dark blue, red and black but they worked very well. They gave great coverage in one thick coat that dries very thin. You can also paint right out of the pot so you don’t really need a pallet. If you’re doing that though I would suggest at paint bottle stand to prevent spilling.

Well it's the week after club champs so time to begin! Spent last evening and today trying to nail down the colour scheme and I think I have it locked down. This test model is almost complete, I just have transfers and basing to do (once I figure out how I want to base them). I introduce you to The Order of Gilded Piety. imgur.com/gallery/rEhNRto

I painted half my army for clubs with Contrast paints. I find them great for putting a base coat down.

I found them to be not at all what I was looking for for the base colours. Rather than saving time, the layering I had to do to move them up to the brightness I wanted means that the 2 I tried them on are sitting in simple green right now. Not to say there isn't a use for them, I'm using them on the hair and faces, but the purple they produced was far too dark for what I am looking for
