This is a 1st kick at the can for a Renegade Knights list. I’d only need to buy 2 of the Armigers and convert a Desecrator to run it, hence the knight selection. The general idea is that the Atrapos and the Castigator jam in hard, while getting supported by the Desecrator and his cohort of War Dogs. With a 14” move, I can almost guarantee one in combat T1 if I full tilt or I go second. I’m sure there’s better options out there for knight selection, but I’ve got the models, and they need to be freaking painted finally, lol.
Renegade Knight Superheavy Detachment - Infernal Household Ambition Lords of War (3-5)
Renegade Knight Atrapos – Atrapos Lascutter, Graviton Singularity Cannon Warlord Trait: Warp-Haunted Hull RELIC: Tzeentchian Pyrothrone
Renegade Knight Castigator – Castigator Bolt Cannon, Tempest Warblade
Knight Desecrator – Reaper Chainsword, RELIC: The Diamonas
2x War Dogs w/ War Dog Autocannons
2x War Dog Moirax – 1x Moirax Conversion Beam Cannon & 1x Lightning Lock (each)
1999 points 8 CP as the game begins

And a brief rundown of the FW guns in case anyone is unfamiliar. The Moirax have a built in "stabilizer" that renders them immune to the dangers of moving and firing heavy weapons, similar to the autocannons on the other War Dogs, so they can all move and fire as a big pack, ignoring the penalties for heavy weapons.
Atrapos Singularity Cannon - Contained – 36” - Heavy 4 // S8 // Ap-3 // D=3 - Singularity – 36” - Heavy D6+4 // S14 // Ap-4 // D=3 // On a 1-3 the bearer suffers D3 mortals when this mode is chosen Atrapos Lascutter - Melee – S+6 // AP-4 // D=6 // Re-Roll wound rolls vs. Vehicles and Monsters - Ranged – 9” – Heavy 1 // S12 // Ap-4 // D=6 // Re-Roll wound rolls vs. Vehicles and Monsters
Castigator Bolt Cannon – 36” – Heavy 16 // S6 // Ap-2 // D-2 Tempest Warblade – S+6 // Ap-3 // D=3 // Make 2 hit rolls for each attack made with this weapon instead of 1
Moirax Conversion Beam Cannon - Short Range – 0-18” – Heavy D3 // S6 // Ap-0 // D=2 - Mid Range – 18-36” – Heavy D3 // S8 // Ap-1 // D=3 - Long Range – 36-54” – Heavy D3 // S10 // Ap-2 // D=4 Lightning Lock – 36” – Heavy 6 // S6 // Ap-2 // D=1 // An unmodified hit roll of 6 for an attack made using this weapon scores 2 additional hits on the target

might be dicey on objective games without any bodies to hold anything... lose a knight early (super easy with 8th edition to lose a knight first turn) and recovering could be very difficult. Knight shooting is good, but to be honest it's not really super great (your tsons have more for example!) and each loss is really felt heavily.

Oh yeah, it'll suffer like all knight lists suffer, but now that the Darksiders knights are done, there's nothing else to do with the remaining knights, so I figured; why not a Legio Xestobiax renegade household?
I feel like itll be as fun to play as the Darksiders; if for no other reason than big stompy robots.

I guess the big hotness for knights is 3x double shooty and 1 with saw. Then what ever stuff you can bring on top as gravy. Usually gatling/thermal.
I know its popular on the loyalist side. I'd assume its probably good on chaos side too

Hell yeah; rule of cool trumps just about everything in my books.
It'd be a LOT of purple to paint though; so much.

Tossing ideas around to see if one of these two would be better than the above original list...
Renegade Knight Superheavy Detachment - Infernal Household Ambition Lords of War (3-5)
Renegade Knight Atrapos – Atrapos Lascutter, Graviton Singularity Cannon Warlord Trait: Warp-Haunted Hull RELIC: Tzeentchian Pyrothrone
Renegade Knight Castigator – Castigator Bolt Cannon, Tempest Warblade
Knight Despoiler – Thermal Cannon & Reaper Chainsword
2x War Dogs w/ War Dog Autocannons
2x War Dog Moirax – 1x Moirax Conversion Beam Cannon (ea.) & 1x Moirax Siege Claw w/ Inbuilt Rad-Cleanser (ea.)
1991 points 8 CP as the game begins
OR
Renegade Knight Superheavy Detachment - Infernal Household Ambition Lords of War (3-5)
Renegade Knight Atrapos – Atrapos Lascutter, Graviton Singularity Cannon Warlord Trait: Warp-Haunted Hull RELIC: Tzeentchian Pyrothrone
Renegade Knight Castigator – Castigator Bolt Cannon, Tempest Warblade
Knight Despoiler – Avenger Gatling Cannon + Heavy Flamer, Rapid-Fire Battle Cannon + Hvy. Stubber & Stormspear Rocket Pod
2x War Dogs w/ War Dog Autocannons
1x War Dog Moirax – 1x Moirax Conversion Beam Cannon & 1x Lightning Lock
1999 points 8 CP as the game begins
The second list sacrifices a body for a ton more shooting, but I'm not sure the loss of that body is "worth" the better shots. I'd likely drop the helm of Warp Sight on the shooty knight to keep him from suffering any negative modifiers for shooting so he's the most effective he can be.
Thoughts?

an additional war dog would seem to be better than slightly better shots as it would normally be able to contribute throughout the life of the game. If you make a knight more deadly it's just the first one killed - and every list can tackle a knight these days. So I'd go with the extra wardog.
