Yay GW is once again raising their prices. Those hardcover army books are going to be costing you $50 now.

Which is where everyone seems to be going....half the players are quitting, and the other half are just buying up the used stuff. Sadly, the ones that get hurt in all of this are local game store owners like Mike and Bob.
The most ridiculous part is that everything is 5-20 bucks a pop cheaper in the US, even though our dollar is currently worth MORE. Sure, I expect a little price bump for crossing the border, but that is just a bit excessive.

Yeah, that's why my elves went too. I mean, I had the whole army. Just didn't have any interest in the game. My interest in the current incarnation of 40k isn't much higher either.

Well as the owner of three warmahordes armies, I hate to tell you, but that game is not really any cheaper than GW... units of 5-6 guys can still run you $50 each... don't get me wrong... I really like that game, but it's still a pricey game...
And buying used is great and all, (I buy and trade used stuff too!) but we also need to support our local stores as well or we won't have anywhere to play now will we?
GW's pricing is rather crazy, (at least we're not poor Australians!) and I don't even want to think about how much I've invested in the games I play... My big concern is that as people spend less, (because of GW's greed) it's putting local stores out of business as people go to other sources to save money... I couldn't care less if GW loses money... I care alot if our local stores can't make ends meet due to corporate greed.... say what you will about other systems, GW is a big chunk of business for FLGS...
Not sure what the solution is, because it doesn't seem like GW listens when people complain - in fact the blogger from the back 40k got banned from their facebook page for simply asking them why they were charging more for a product that cost them less to make? (finecast)

i had a friend that was looking into starting to play warhammer but with this price hick i cant see him doing it. at lest i will soon have a 3rd army so he can just borow one of mine i grew up in a low income family and my mom could not aford for me to play warhammer as a younger person and i feel GW's greed will make it even harder for even middle class parents to let there children play GW games.

I agree with JS. The effect on our local gaming stores is what we need to worry about.
Outside of my getting into Warmachine, I haven't bought anything at my local gaming store that was GW related in over a year now, and even then, my last GW purchase was with a gift certificate I won from being in the tournament.
I'm at the point where I'm selling off the GW armies I don't want to complete cause they'll be too costly, and I really am nearing the point where I will probably be selling the two GW armies I do play.

....keep in mind as well, we're talking in some cases a matter of $5 or less...
the bigger increases are going to be on battleforces... they're still going to be a better deal than buying it individually, however they'll be going up around $20... so if you want something like that, get it soon!

Also have to agree with Shannon. It is the local store we have to worry about since they offer a great place to play. So although I am disgruntled with GW and their game rules and don't plan to buy anymore for a long time, if at all, I still spend money (buying a warmachine mercenary army) at the local game store to support it. I have been looking at other games as well that I might buy to support the store but it won't likely be GW product until they change their rules/attitude to customers (not likely I think but you never know).
