Awesome. Liking the models is always important.

I used to play Skaven way back in 3rd ed Fantasy and toyed with starting them again, but the Seraphon are pretty cool, you know... Dinosaurs and stuff.

I've heard that the Seraphon are fun. Also, Aztec lizards riding dinosaurs are awesome.

AOS/warhammer fantasy armies I've bought and painted and sold:
wood elves (my first army) and then Sylvaneth when those kits came out vampire counts Khadron overlords Skaven high elves stormcast
AOS armies I still have:
Daughters of Khaine Ogor Mawtribes Blades of Khorne Hedonites of Slaanesh Maggotkin of Nurgle Disciples of Tzeentch
so I always pick armies based on the models I want to paint up or a theme I'm thinking of. Probably the army that I stuck with the longest was Ogres, back in the warhammer fantasy days and are still my favorite army for the game (even if I play AOS only rarely now).

Naturally enough my first Fantasy army was Dark Elves back in 5th edition WFB for 2 reasons. 1. I got a sweet deal on an army box 2. The main reason was after reading the intro in the army book and one paragraph in particular: "Of all the races in the Warhammer world the Dark Elves appear to be the most purely evil, for they will take pleasure in performing a malicious act for no other reason than that it causes suffer to others. Like a child that pulls the wings off a fly, a Dark Elf will slowly torture a prisoner to death simply to see how much pain they can inflict before the victim dies. Not even the followers of the vile Chaos gods are so depraved, for while they are perfectly capable of performing acts of quite unspeakable horror, they at least do so in the name of their gods and to spread their unholy religion. The Dark Elves neither have nor seem to feel the need for such reasons or excuses"The only other armies I've had/have are Bretonnians (which I bought off Shannon, but he never painted them so they aren't on his list and a Stormcast army. I could also do Daughters of Khaine with the old Witch Elves I have from my Dark Elf army and Daemons using what I have for 40K

I actually plan to try buying the Ogor Mawtribes battleforce box that will be coming out. So, that'll be a second/third army. I'm also slowly making some Sons of Behemat, so the Gargant in the box won't be wasted.

Competitive: Skaven in 7th / 8th were able to hold their own; transitioning from sport to gaming (after being mercury poisoned) I wanted an army I could compete with
Crazy/fun: there's a lot of ways you could play them
Models: pretty cool to have swarms of them, and those rat ogres.... and all the techy madness
Conversion: this was a huge factor for me- I'm like Jack ^ but instead of getting them to paint I like getting them to convert.
Sweet Deal: they were part of a boxed set at the time, and I didn't have expendable income, so making it stretch in this hobby- while having a broad array of army compositions- took a lot of bargain hunting & ingenuity
Oh, and rats: I've probably had 100 irl (I bred them & sold them to pet store for more woodchips & food when I was kid.. pretty much paid for themselves... ... and sadly I think a lot went to be feeders, so basically I was a Skaven warlord in training all this time).
Also: - I loathe painting, so it was a bit of rocky relationship with ~300 models - I strategically sought & built a competitive Lizzie army on a budget, and did some involved conversations; when it was time to play it 8th went to AoS so it never hit the table and I switched to a more skirmish focus.
