so not 100% if these points are accurate or if i missed something.
also this is just a first rough draft a mix of what i did last editon and what i thought might be ok this edition.
battalion
Chapter master on bike with storm shield and chainsword 110 points
Techmarine chainsword, bolter 40 points
3 x 5 man intercessor squads 100 points each
2 venerable dreadnoughts with twin lascannon and dreadfist with storm bolter 148 points each
3 x 3 landspeeders, each with heavy bolter and assult cannon, 80 per speeder so 240 per unit, and 720 for all three units.
thunder fire cannon with gunner, 140 points
Leviathan with two storm cannons and two heavy flamers 350 points.
2000 points.
again not 100% sure how accurate these points are they are from the google doc going around. also may have missed something. and list adjustments may be needed

One sentence summary: A lot of Dakka. Not so great at scoring.
Might want to think about dumping more points into scoring units. dropping down to just 3x2 or 2x3 speeders doesn't really remove much dakka and would net you two more obsec intercessor squads with 40 spare points to play with.
I'm excited to list-craft again. 9th is gunna be fun. =)

i agree about the light on troops. speeders get a movement boost if there are three in the unit, their speed goes from 14 to 16. the plan was to have the units take table quarters and get objectives (if i can move what is on the objective off. will be a learning curve with this new edition as the scoring is different.

speeders will really help with secondaries... you can get 10 points towards the primary just by holding two objectives, so not difficult to do with such a hard to kill list. I'd use your speeders for the objective / table quarter grabs. With the new terrain rules they can pretty much zip around from cover to cover if need be and be your objective grabbers.
Think the mobility will serve you well, as your dread elements still do what they do just as well (or better, because trying to pin down a leviathan is suicide) than before.

thanks that was the idea. will need to play to do some tweaking. the chapter master on bike will give one or two speeders reroll to hit and also be a counter charge unit if they get charged.
the dread ccws on the venerables will do the same for the dread blob. vehicles being able to move and shoot base now mean that the dreads are mobile and can still unless their full fire power.
same with the speeders. 6 wounds each, with 6 assult cannon and 3 heavy bolter shots each per turn with 14 (16 if the full unit of three) inch movement for 80 points. i think is a steal now that they can move and shoot normally and shoot into combat. they lose the ability to leave combat and shoot but they would be broken if they could still do that.

one thing i thought of is the storm shield is almost useless.
the chapter master would have a 4++ native save it would really only give me a 2+ armour.
drop the shield and take a power axe, that i can make the axe of medusa
