So, a bit later this week, I plan to get some things to start up some Thousand Sons in addition to Orks. Anyway, I made a theory list, and want to post it here to perhaps get some feedback, so I know if I should go ahead and get this stuff, or make different purchases.
Also, if anyone could tell me how to copy paste from battlescribe, that would be great, as I'm having to type this all out, hahaha.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, but this is a 1000 point list.

Hey Alex, I've played a few games with Tsons and i found that the cult of magic and duplicity are quite good.
In cult of magic you can take a WLtrait that lets you do extra mortal wounds on your WL. So smite would be D3/D6+1 and for a daemon prince you can take infernal gateway which you do a MW in an area which can include yourself if you are too close. But it does d3/d6+1 to the initial target and the to the units within 3" of the model that is closest to where you cast from. Along with the spell from the Cult which is like an AoE smite so does d3+1 to the inital target with your WL and normally 1 to all units within 3" of that unit plus another for the WL trait. He can really pump up the damage. If you have the spare relic you can allow him to the cult one for a +1 to cast making him even more powerful.
In cult of duplicity the strength comes from their ability to be able to teleport with their cult power. Dont forget that Rubrics can cast the cult power along with knowing smite(being a weaker version) and another power from the Tsons lore. So these guys are able to teleport up the field onto objectives. also A neat trick is that you can use this if you are locked in combat which will let you still shoot and charge if you want to. The relics and WL traits arent as strong as cult of magics but their ability to move acorss the table is great. You could always take the Dark Matter Crystal to have a second way to teleport a unit to safety or to fly your tzaangors into your enemy as you can charge after and with the brayhorn you can get +1 to it. you can also just use the stratgem to deepstrike these guys as well but you'll have to wait for turn 2.
Big things to remeber is that rubrics can cast powers so dont forget to include those and try to leave the actual smites to the characters as they get a normal smite where rubrics can only do 1/D3 MW. I also tend to leave Ahriman to cast my buffs spells just as he gets the natural +1 and he has the better chance to get those off. But theres always the 1 damage spell.
Cult of time is great but i found that it works best with Terminators as they get the most bang for your buck for that spell. It'll be even better once they go up to 3 wounds. But id do a small detachment for terminators as cult of time and keep the battalion as one of the others.
Hope this helps! Tsons are one of my favorite armies.

I'm a big fan of Rubrics, in my mind you can't go wrong with them. In my experience, they do well when supported by Exalted sorcerers for the re-roll 1's to hit buff. I've personally never liked Tzaangors, but that's merely a personal prejudice against any of those units aimed directly at GW.
I've always enjoyed the durability of the Cult of Time. You can combo the spell with a stratagem if you roll well and really crank the models back into a unit. It’s pricey CP wise, but now that you gain one every turn, if you have the Perfidious Tome as well as the Helm of the Third eye, it’ll allow you lots of opportunity to gain up to 3CP a turn.
I enjoy that there’s not a single build for Thousand Sons nowadays that’s “good”. It allows us to diversify into the codex a bit; because there’s nothing worse in my opinion than cookie-cutter netlists.
Daemon Princes – I never use them with my sons, but they do a good job and get lots of mileage Ahriman – must include, always. On foot or on a disc, doesn’t matter which Exalted sorcerers – One of THE most points effective HQ’s in the game right now in my opinion. Rubrics – some are good, lots are better, keep the unit size to 9 or less to avoid blast problems, yes it means no soulreapers, but their bolters are pretty kick-ass on their own
Some units to think about Scarab Occult Terminators – They had an unfortunate increase in points, but with their new 3 wounds as of next month? They should be worth taking again despite being rather points heavy per body Helbrutes – good when supported by an exalted sorcerer and an inexpensive way to add some high strength ranged firepower to your list which is what Sons lack in their troops. Contemptor dreadnoughts – butcher cannons, no other words necessary Hellforged (or regular) predators – A solid inexpensive tank that can mount some hard hitting turret weapons Noctilith crown – in the right builds can be really helpful, but it can also buff your opponent if you’re going up against other Chaos psykers, YMMV

Thanks for the input guys. I'll admit, this list is based on me trying to get two start collecting boxes (I checked, and even with a wasted Ahriman in the second box, I'd still save something like $10 over buying the rubrics and tzaangors separate) and a daemon prince, with some more tzaangors to round out the points, so it's likely not all that good. Still, I figured it could make for an easy start.

Rubrics and Ahriman are SO worth the start collecting box. You can even kitbash the other Ahriman into an exalted sorcerer if you have the pieces to make it look different enough so there's even less waste.

Oh, I hadn't thought of kitbashing him. Thanks for the idea.
