Made some good progress this weekend. The Disco Lord was a fun build. I started using sprue goo a lot more (so it kinda oozed out a bit) and then going in with the Tamiya extra thin to kinda paint the globs of goo to blend the parts together. seemed to work out pretty good. also started using the Tamiya extra thin to "paint" away the really hard to get at mold lines. http://instagram.com/p/CgxvpB8AssL

I have made a lot of progress in a lot of areas since I got into this hobby a few years ago, but I have to admit that I'm still using citadel plastic glue like a chump. Haha
How does dissolving the mold lines turn out? Is it easier than using the back of a knife? I've heard of the method, but never tried it.
Looking forward to seeing him painted. That's a pretty fun looking base! My own disco lord currently resides in sub assembly limbo. Airbrush work is done, so now I just hope he gets to the front of the painting queue before I start losing pieces.

It's the first time I've tried it, and it works pretty well to get rid of the lines. It takes a second for it to melt the plastic amd then u can smooth it out from there. just don't have too much glue on the applicator brush.

Dam that spider thing looks kinda spooky but I like what you did with the green stuff and the bedroll on the bike amd and I still use the citadel glue for small models or certain models if I plan on snapping the attachment points for limbs for dynamic poseing reasons for some of my suits because all you need to do is put the model in the freezer for 30m9n to 1 hour and you can take it off if you mess up the pose your trying to go for.

No pics this update. I been working on the Lord Discordant. I got most of the base painted, with the exception of the dreadnought legs. I primed the mini black, and spray canned the first coat of leadbelcher, washed with nuln oil and dry brushed with aluminum. I also got the first layer down for the armor panels (terradon turquoise contrast paint) to get an idea of how this thing will shape up.
And I've hit a point where I got to make a decision about what to do with all the metallics on this thing. On my other minis I've used brass scorpion as an accent mettalic, but holy there is a lot of metal on this dude and I got to figure out a way to differentiate between all the surfaces. I think I sat there for lole 30 minutes just staring at the thing lol.
tonight I'll either figure something out, or work on the cloak lol

To keep the progress going on the Disco lord, I blocked in his cloak with word bearers red, did the leathers in leather brown. I did end up sorting the metallics to a point, mostly picked the underside panels to be brass, and some of the bearings in the leg joints, etc.
today's plan is to block in all the cabling and piping in 3 colors, royal purple, royal blue, and German grey. If I'm ambitious I may tackle glazing in the warp lightning into the armor panels. then on to flesh bits, there's not much there.
once that's done the model should have a base color on everything and I can see how the over all color balance looks, amd start the shading process.
I knew this was going to be a big project, but wow this mini is packed with details.
I'll post pics, something tomoro morning if I make a good go at it today.

Wanted to post a quick update for hobby progress for the week. I have neeeeaaarly reached the point on the Lord Discordant to call it done. all the major decisions have been made, I ended up going straight up magenta for the few fleshy bits there are, planning on filling the vials of techno virus with florescent pink, along with its spit. all the brass trim has been based, initial cloak layering started, boney bits done as well mostly.
tonight will be all the silver trim touch ups where I messed up, along with initial highlights before dulling it all down with washes.
I also have figured out how to make the AXE OF DESMEMBERMENT for my Master of Executions. Lol so metal. I looked it up and miliput is sandable so the plan is alive, waiting on the sprue goo to take a bit better hold before I start filling with miliput but I'll post pics later of that.
ALSO decided to just prime the 2x5 chosen squads I have in black then leadbelcher to get that started and ready to go.
I'll post some pics once the lord of Disco is done. perhaps he will be called Disco Steve. TBD.

Hey folks, I completed the Disco Lord, and I'm really happy with this guy. The only thing left is to free hand something on the flag, but I'm leaving that for a future project. I basically went in and spent the time trying to find mistakes amd fixing them, I did a strong tone wash on all the brass and leathers amd bones, amd then went back and touched all the colors again to bring them back up and then edge highlighted some trim. I mixed some green amd black into 5 minute epoxy to make the oil slick, and also secure 2 of his legs, the rest had a dab of gel superglue. a good coat of matte varnish, then gloss varnish on the oil slick amd meats bits, and the eye lenses too amd painted the rim black. and booyakashakalaka. http://instagram.com/p/ChhtKLTrV8u

Next project will be finishing this guy up, I want to get him at least built and primed before the end of the week. Since I completely sucked at sculpting an axe from scratch, and I because the khorne beserker in my head made me do it, of 1 chainaxe ain't big enough, then 2s gotta be right?.... right? lol. I had to shave the cape and a bit of his foot to get that sucker in there in a not suuuper wonky angle. it's not perfect bit it's ok. I've got to use green stuff to fix the gap between the cape and axe, and to do the stitched skin cape on the back side. I'm not sure happy with the first round so I may peel it off and re do it. http://instagram.com/p/ChiTRYcAW4i

wow...i havent updated in a while...so last couple of months have been the worst for hobby progress. no hobby streak here lol.
I did build logan grimnar, I have the 2 wolves mostly painted, but the rest is just black primed.
I also built and did some modifications to a squad of traitor gaurdsmen to use as cultists, they are all primed. I also am going to try out a different approach to painting these. inspired by what I see from "craftworld studio" I'm going to do an under coat going from dark purple to a lighter lavender for the shading, then glaze in a olive green for the armor panels, and a kinda deep red/maroon for the cloth. the idea being that the purple is a contrasting color to both the olive green, and the maroon (used Adobe split complementary color wheel to figure this out)....no idea if it will work, may end up as garbage, but i will most definatly learn something here, once I get off my butt and put some paint down.
