Alright time to try out the first one of these with the first avenger!
So first things first cap is the leader of the avengers so obviously any avengers roster must play him but that aside hes still a solid character for other rosters as well.
So on the top line on healthy side we are rocking 5 stamina with a medium move and size 2 at four cost. So not looking do bad so far he flips into six stamina so you have some hp to work with and he is in that 4 cost sweetspot for a leader. In case you don't know the sweetspot for me is four since it let's us take two threes for an even ten point basis in our allegiance of choice.
On defense our second line gives us four physical, four energy and three mystic defense. All around fantastic, mystic is our rarest damage type in the game so its not a huge weakness and honestly three is the baseline anyway so calling it a weakness is kind of a misnomer.
For attacks we are in great shape, a five die strike with a wild push is the highlight for sure since that gives excellent pressure. Shield throw being that huge range four and having ricochet let's him put out chip damage either from or two the Backine and shield slam giving us a dedicated push is as much as we could ask for at 2 power.
Super powers is what we are here for:
The avengers have a gobsmackingly good ability reducing the cost of the first power used in a turn is massive for characters with reactionary powers and our boy cap here has two of them.
Bodyguard can be a bit of a trap and it's one a lot of players fall into, at 2 (1) cost it feels cheap enough to through around willy nilly but cap doesn't have any huge power generation and his defensive tech is a super power as well so he's actually not much better off than the intended target some of the time. It is great in those clutch situations where you save a model carrying an objective though and currently hes one of two models in the game that have it.
Vibranium shield is awesome. For 2(1) power he adds two dice against the two most common damage types in the game. This ability on its own makes people avoid attacking cap.
I can do this all day doesn't kick in until injured side but when combined with vibranium shield it makes him as close to invincible as your gonna get in this game.
So for my overall thoughts cap is the leader of the avengers and is amazing there but overall as a midline brusier he is perfect for all sorts of builds I've considered running him in web warriors and its great. The fact that he has teamwork cards with so many other characters and such generically useful abilities has me reaching for him first more often than not when brewing roster ideas 10/10 hero.
