www.warhammer-community.com/2020/10/25/sunday-preview-brothers-in-arms/BAM. That link up there? It shows that there will be "Combat Patrol" boxes for Death Watch and Space Wolves. They say that the Combat Patrol boxes are a new thing that will be an entire range. Seeing as how a combat patrol game is 500 points, that would mean that these will likely contain more than a Start Collecting box, and will likely cost more as a result. What faction/force would you like to see get a Combat Patrol box? Well, that's all for now.

The sweeter music to my ears is this little ditty of a paragraph closer to the bottom of the page.
"Friday sees the Imperial Armour Compendium available for pre-order – featuring 191 updated datasheets for Forge World models in Warhammer 40,000. The book also includes a code which allows you to get all of the data in Warhammer 40,000: The App. If you’re a fan of massive war machines, destructive monsters, or grimly determined Astra Militarum regiments, then this book is for you."
Sweet... we should be seeing our FW units updated soon, and finally; it's all in one book. Let's hope it doesn't cost $200 again like they used to.

I had not noticed that, hahaha. Yeah, I guess there are plenty around here that use FW models.

I'm curious to see the price on that FW book. Combining everything into one book sounds convenient, but you know the price will have to match. How much are people willing to spend for the few pages of rules that actually pertain to their army?
I am for a bigger start collecting box, in theory. More models at a discount is a good thing. I just hope they don't include too many characters you really don't need duplicates of to water down the savings of multiple boxes.
Looks like the patrol boxes are set to launch alongside the new codexes, so I suppose every army will get one eventually. Except maybe daemons? I would hate to see the god specific boxes disappear for some silly mixed force. Keep those intact for AoS. Can't say I'm super curious about the next tau box. I have enough crisis suits, and you know it's going to have crisis suits.

yeah I'm not looking forward to paying that FW book price for the couple of models I own that are forgeworld (wraithseer, malanthrope and brass scorpion)

At least it would motivate me to build the sicaran and fire raptor that I have just sitting around in pieces.

I noticed that they got rid of the Land Raider Prometheus. I was looking forward to using 2 quad heavy bolters in 9th. I guess GW saw a flaw with that.

New boxes aren't a bad thing. And a firm 500 point starter for beginners is a good idea. Sorry Dave, GW probably thinks they are doing enough discount packages so they won't get bigger when all they are trying to do is give newbies a taste. I also hope the FW book is (by gaming standards) "affordable" but am not holding my breath. And the Prometheus? Do ya think?

So FW compendium is looking at $65 US. Probably $75 - $80 CDN. Takers?

That's not bad really. It's pricey, but for the amount of FW units I have, I'm sure I'll buy it.

kind of a steep price for three units I own (1 of which I only run about once a year at most!) so not sure if I'll end up picking it up.

I have a few units across armies. I also like not having to ask "WTF is that and what does it do?" for those esoteric units. So probably in as well. (My wallet is giving me the hairy eyeball. Interesting since it doesn't have eyes.)
