Hello everyone! I started collecting Warhammer 40k back in 5th edition. Got a few models painted but have never played a game! Currently collecting and painting Blood Angels but am also interested in starting a Necron and Custodes army at some point. Odd question: Does anyone have any advice for priming minis during the winter?

Welcome back!
I always rattlecan, but i have a heated spray booth in my garage. Lots of guys use an airbrush, but there are "inside" priming rigs you can make with a tote, a filter and some electric fans depending on what kind of space you have to play with.

Welcome to the forums!
Currently I do all my priming with the airbrush, however priming with the rattle cans are fine, you just have to ensure that the can is not cold when you spray

I have seen a lot of videos recently of people using airbrushes, the results are amazing! 100% would like to pick one up in the future.
Currently living in an apartment however, so would prefer to do priming outside.
Jack, when you say "ensure the can is not cold" are there methods to warm it before spraying outside? Like wrap the can in a warm blanket or put it in warm water?
These questions probably seem really silly.

Not silly at all. Everything (ambient temp, spray can and model) should be over 15C with low humidity to get the best result. If you have to prime outside in the winter, choose a still day and make sure your stuff is outside for a short a time as possible to reduce the heat bleed.

I have used acrylics in my airbrush and the smell is minimal. Mostly from the cleaner. If you can crack a window, that should handle it if using acrylics.

And if you really want to spray indoors but don't have any options, Nexus does have a small room with ventilation that can be used as a spray booth. Though not sure if it's still available during Covid so best to ask first.
