So as a fun side project as I won't be playing much Warhammer as I don't have as much free time as I once did so I thought id do something different. Slowly going to build a Warhammer 6th ed Daemonic Legion list from the Storm of Chaos. I'm going to focus on doing 2k as was the standard for the edition which should be pretty easy as you didnt need as many models back then and Lords and heroes were much more expensive.
So the list I'm building towards is the following:
Lord of change-665
3x12 Horrors with a champ -229each
2x3 screamers -99pts each
2x3 change bringers -210 pts each
1 chariot of tzeentch 140pts
The list doesn't have a load of models but that's perfectly fine. The biggest part of the list is the Lord of Change himself being a whooping 665pts. I cant upgrade him or change anything as in the hordes of chaos book, they come as a level 4 wizard with a load of daemonic gifts. He's a terror causer which back in the day was a potent thing, making units take panic tests within 6" and if failing running away. But ill be using him as he's got the stats of a dragon with 6's across the board and then I10 to strike first after the 1st round of combat.
No heroes in the list as the only 2 choices are heralds which are generic and have to give them a mark which would make him nearly 200pts. I may build one in the future but for now I'm going to avoid it. Then there is the Exalted Daemon which is the hero version of the Daemon prince which I will be building in the future. I have plans to make him a Big monster flying on a disc as he has the fly rule. He would be used when I play smaller games.
I'm running 3 squads of Horrors as I need 3 cores in a 2000pt game. the horrors have bound spells which have to do with their unit size, but in 6th ed, bound spells go of automatically, they can put out quite a bit of magic. 1 spell per unit but that's still great on top of the Lord of Change and the unit champion. In Storm of chaos they gave daemons the options to take command, so pink horrors not being super combat strong, had their champions are lvl1 wizards. So now I have a level 4 wizard and 3 level 1. So loads of magic coming at yah.
The big thing I have to convert in the army is the Change bringers which are flamers flying around on Discs of Tzeentch flying fire at people. I'm going to be using the discs from the sky fires as its the best place for them and slapping some plastic flamers on. Much easier conversion then acquiring the old metal discs from 6th ed.
So I'm going to break down my list of the build into sections to make it easier to accomplish.
1. Paint lord of change
2. paint first 16 horrors
3. Build and convert 3 champions for horrors.
4. build screamers and changebringers
keeping the list small for now. I've pledge the Lord of Change to a paint pledge for the Old World lives, so I have to have him done by the end of the month. Ill post pictures of him on his fancy chariot base, as the new plastic lord of change isn't fitting on the old 50x50.
