Well, the tyranid repaint has begun... Here's the zoanthropes - first test of replicating the coconut crab scheme (all brush, no airbrush beyond priming) imgur.com/gallery/zpNsDTYMaybe I'll be able to buy a unit, paint a unit...lol... yeah maybe

Your new nid scheme is freaking amazing! They're going to look pretty damn fantastic all assembled on the board.

Ya I do really like the armour where it has a more organic shell feel then just the unbroken plating you usually see. Can I ask what are you using to do all the little dots? do you have a tool/object for dotting or are you still doing all of them with a brush?

I'm using a brush for all of the dots... takes a while, but the non-chitin areas are pretty quick so time wise it's not TOO horrible lol

Was wondering if there was a secret other then spending time. It's looking really cool, while I liked your old Alien inspired guys, these are better!

Thanks! I'm really liking it too... although I honestly look at every model about half way through the process and go "this looks weird why am I doing this again?" but by the end it seems to work out okay.
Yeah the trick is actually using a synthetic brush (had an older one laying around) that isn't too big. That way the brush doesn't hold all the paint in (like my sable ones do) and really thin paint so it doesn't blob or come out too quick. then just dot, dot, dot and switch colours and continue lol

I am loving this scheme. Glad to hear your method isn't TOO arduous. Now show us how it looks on 60 gaunts!

Ah, challenging the design team to make gaunt hordes the meta I see. lol, not sure that will be the future, although gaunt carpet lists had a BRIEF moment in the sun... but then people realized aggressors exist and that was a short ride for the termagants lol I am actually going to paint some up though I think. I was far too nidzilla based with my previous collection, so I want to have more of a mix this time. I mean I still PREFER monsters to pretty much anything else... but hey, I'm trying to grow lol
