Any local KoW players? Really craving rank and flank!

I'd be willing to play, but since there isn't a local community for it I never got any models or such for it. Would of been a waste to get the models/rule books and then never play. I had actually tried to gauge local interest before to see if it would be worth it. No success however. Shame, as I'd love to play a rank and file fantasy game.
If you would be interested, I can look into it again. However, it would be a fair while before I would have enough stuff to be ready to play. Just a heads up.
Also, for what it's worth, I did see two people playing the 3rd edition of Kings of War sometime in 2019 over at the nexus. They didn't use KoW models, but they used the rules. I don't know who they were though, so I don't know if they played again.

Just letting people know that I’ve bought an ogre army and the rule book. Looks like a lot of fun!

So, in case anyone interested sees this, there is at least 3 of us currently working on making Kings of War armies. Just figured I'd leave that as an update here, in case anyone wants to join in. We plan to eventually try to grow the community, but for now are just building and painting.

Apparently it works with any models, not necessarily just mantics? Maybe one day when I have enough daemons and beastmen built up I can cobble together an army of some sort.
Game sounds fun, but I'm so slow when it comes to putting new models on the table, I think the only way I could ever see it happen is if I use AoS units I already own.
Where did you grab the necessary book(s), by the way?

I ordered mine from mantic but in hindsight it’d probably be better to order them from a Canadian site if you want the physical book or right off mantic for digital!

For what it's worth, you can get the basic rules for free, sort of like with 40K or AoS. And yeah, I had ordered an army set and the rulebook straight from the Mantic site. They shipped fast, and it got here quickly, but I had to pay customs. There are some Canadian sites that do sell some stuff though.

For anybody that is wondering, the goblins that Mantic makes are amazing. At least, the few I've dealt with.
I'm making a ratkin army, but have some goblins for a non-Kings of War project.

I have a large warhammer empire army that could easily make a kingdoms of men force, I would certianly be interested im trying out a game.
Come to think of it I could also scrape together an orc force. Movement trays may be slightly larger than recomended but it would work.

All of us are still brand new and working on our armies. Perfect time to jump in!

Holy model count batman! I've been making lists up on Mantic's easy army page and I'm pretty surprised at how many models it takes to have a 2000 pt force. I used to run a horde Empire army in WHFB 6th ed and had well over 3000pts. In KOW I've got to scrounge a bit to make 2000!
I've done some reading and it looks like 1250 is commonly held to be the smaller end of the playable spectrum. Another site proposed playing 750 pts but with some serious restrictions to keep a single power unit from dominating.
It all looks pretty fun, and runs counter to most of what I don't like about AOS.

For what it's worth, the models themselves (at least, the official Mantic models) tend to be much cheaper than GW models.
I just want to say that me saying that is in no way bashing GW. They make beautiful models, but they can be pricey. Admittedly, some Mantic stuff is a bit less detailed (The same could be said for many older GW models as well come to think of it. Many Skaven models come to mind), but their newer stuff is great.

Mantic has some pretty neat looking stuff in their newer ranges, I dig the nightstalkers and abyssals.
I'm lucky to still have a pretty large chunk of my old warhammer armies so I'm covered.
But yeah, it is definitely a mass battles system. Even 1000 pts gives you a respectable number of units to play with.
I'd definitely recommend their easy army web app, you can play around with army creation and all the stats and rules are there.
