If you haven't read any of Plastic Craic's AoS articles, you should - especially if you like Destruction. He just dropped a post commenting on some of the revealed changed in 3.0 and in particular the ever controversial double turn. Plastic Craic turned me onto a lot of the merits of the double turn in 2.0 so it's definitely worth at least a cursory read if you're vehemently against it as a mechanic. plasticcraic.blog/2021/06/04/aos-3-0-why-im-glad-the-priority-roll-is-staying/

lol... this article just cemented my reasons against the double turn... and his "counter points" made me very thankful I'll never be across the table from this guy. But regardless I'm glad that you're enjoying the game.
I'm in a pause with AOS currently, on the cusp of selling off all my stuff, but holding on because at some point it may become something I want to play, because it used to be my preferred ruleset as once upon a time it was the more balanced fair system. (plus I'd never get back what I put into it). Those vampire count models had me almost go on a spending spree... but I have enough painted models sitting on shelves that I don't bring out to play currently lol
I do honestly hope that AOS becomes a great system that people enjoy and we have a thriving local community for it!

lol... this article just cemented my reasons against the double turn... and his "counter points" made me very thankful I'll never be across the table from this guy. But regardless I'm glad that you're enjoying the game. By all reports Craic is one of the friendliest comp players in the Australian scene, but he is a comp player. So naturally he's talking from the perspective of playing and winning in an environ in which the double turn is a fundamental element, and in that scene you certainly have to suck it up and learn to play into the double (utilizing it and mitigating it) instead of just wishing it didn't exist which gets you nothing but salt and losses. And his points are pretty salient - the double benefits combat armies more than shooting/magic ones because of how screening works, so removing it as Sigmar is today would make the game a lot more agonizing and lopsided. Unfortunately as much as I want to like Sigmar imo it's a flaming garbage fire at the moment. But the double turn isn't even on the list of dealbreaker problems hobbling the game as I see it. There's a shortlist of battletomes with overpowering access to shooting and magic that dominate the game, and I doubt I'll be able to enjoy Sigmar again until they've curbed the currently massive battletome imbalances :/

Hopefully either 3.0 lands well or old world revives the ruleset. 8th edition had a ton of problems but so does age of sigmar hopefully they figure it out soon. The double turn does feel like a big barrier for the game though.
