I'm picking mine up this weekend, but that's shitty news that it's no longer spiral bound! What the hell GW?

I have the new chapter approved book. It is a regular book style... sadly no more elastic, and even more frustrating, it isn't spiral bound. not impressed that they made this change, because it no longer lays flat on the table! And the crazy thing is, the Age of Sigmar equivalent is spiral-bound!

Yeah I wasn't terribly impressed.
CAGT 2020 was great
CAGT2021....content improved, execution got worse
Then again I've been playing games that give this stuff away for free for a decade...so having to pay for it is annoying in its own way

Yeah for the price you pay it would of been nice if it was spiral bound and had a harder cover plus elastic, but they do have rubber/silicone coating on them.

used it last night for a game... it was definitely not as good as having it spiral bound... may look into how to get that done.

Staples or another print shop could likely do it for you no problem. All you need is a commercial grade paper cutter and hole punch. Cut the existing spine off the book, punch holes, thread it onto a spiral binding

Staples Back when FOW books were paperback I used to go there and get all my books spiral bound, was a game changer. Edit: As I look across my office and realize I actually have the equipment to do it sitting in a cupboard.....

Article explaining their logic on the table layouts (for events of sufficient size for such things to realy matter) www.warhammer-community.com/2021/06/29/metawatch-warhammer-40000-building-beautiful-balanced-battlefields-for-grand-tournament-play/Tabletop tactics did a good video questioning the necessity/design of such a thing www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDqiki4_reoThey later played a game on the "standard" table, but they never really got around to commenting on how the table affected said game (though from watching it, basically the terrain got ignored and it became a matter of street fighting around big squares of ignored space) The picture in the above article makes my table at home look positively dense......but comming from Flames of War I think my table looks sparse....its an interestign back and forth, because obviously a general purpose table should be able to accomodate things like Knights, Repulsors, etc which take up way larger lanes than I would normally leave on a table
