looks great!
As someone who struggles to take decent pictures of miniatures I gotta ask... how'd you get such crisp clear pictures?

looks great! As someone who struggles to take decent pictures of miniatures I gotta ask... how'd you get such crisp clear pictures? Admittedly I have quite an expensive camera, but you can get good results with just a phone though. The main thing is lots of light, more than you think you need. For these I raised my work desk so it was about 3 feet from my overhead light and put two small lamps on either side of the minis. The background is just a curved sheet of white Bristol board that helps kick back some light and kill harsh shadows. I edited in Adobe Lightroom but again phone app edits are decent. I’ll post a pic of my setup when I finish up my next batch of painting.

Thanks!
My struggle is even in a Lightbox it always has a light source bouncing off the top and gets washed out. Maybe I need more light rather than less?

Those pics look pretty solid, I don’t see really many issues with focus. You are going to get some blurring of models in behind just due to depth of field. I would just use a cleaner less distracting background. If you’re using all black you’ll want to adjust your exposure down a bit. Cameras exposure meters try to make an average tone of middle grey so if a large part of the image is black parts will become a bit over exposed (to bright) -vice Vera if you have a lot of white. Oh and if you are not already use daylight tinted lighting (5000k colour temp) or adjust your pics in your editing app a bit cooler until they look natural. Can you tell I teach photography? 🤣

Thanks! that was very helpful!
I'm using daylight lights but have not tried editing anything in an app... mainly because I don't know what I'm doing.
I never knew that you needed to adjust exposure down with a black background - that is very helpful!
Thanks again!
