For the secondaries options I think one is the most fair. As they are available to everyone already.
As for the teams there are pros and cons to either format. I'm ok with what ever.
I will say I did really enjoy last times tag team matches. Tho it was the best I've done in a tournament and me and my partner didn't really have a super cheese lord list (other then my leviathan) but that was before the broken iron hands codex.

I found the 4 player format works well. Is it a pain in the ass to source everybody and meet to practice? Yes. it also forces you to better understand your partners and their armies, think more about the tactical aspect of each possible combo, and be more adaptable facing your enemies' combos. For me, that has meant more enjoyable and unpredictable tournaments. Strange but true.

I'll echo the enjoyment of the 4 player format. It forces you to work together as a team instead of bringing a pair of busted cheese-lord lists that you tool to work perfectly together.
Having 4 adds more actual strategy and balance to the format. You have to try.
I'm also a fan of options 1 or 2 in the strats discussion. The free for all would just be a disgusting nightmare.

My experience with the 4 player tournaments is -mostly- the same as the 2 player ones, with the single exception that there's always at least one 'weak' pairing in the 4v4 matchups that don't have the game experience for smooth play and/or never got enough practice in together. Those games tend to be slow and rough with lots of bumpy rules confusion and usually poor performance. Because I've never really played enough of an edition to be the 'carry' I'm usually a part of that pairing lol
But ultimately I'm down either way if I manage to secure a seat.

You could try a different option this year....
Cause 9th is more mission focused with primary and secondary objectives. Why not run it like this;
4 people per team. Each game, teams receive 2 missions. Each team decides secretly which of their players will match up to accomplish the mission for their team. They write their names on the sheet and then when both teams have decided the team captains roll off. The winner picks the tables and the missions that goes to that table and then the players go to the table . (Each match up has two tables to choose from)
Players aren’t building a team to combat their opponents but to accomplish the mission.
Can only play with each member of your team once per day.
Other notes Command points - suggest that each player gets 6 command points (incursion) to start , players on the team can not share command points. Each turn each player gets a command point in their command phase.

Team tourney will be SEPT 18/19th - full weekend
Teams of four
1k lists each - you must play with each of your team mates once per day to limit power couples.
no duplications of armies. Soup counts as every army in the soup. space marines cannot duplicate chapters/successors but can have ultras + iron hands if they wish.
SIX teams maximum (stupid covid)
signup and full details will be coming soon... start working on your teams!

Good, I will be able to make this one. Any particular limitations for the lists?

1k, so incursion limits of 2 detachments, rule of two and all that... as long as you have a legal battleforged 1k list you're good to go!
oh, and you cannot duplicate the army of any of your team mates!

Any teams looking for a member? I can bring a full range of Dark Angels lists at 1000 points, as well as Astra Militarum.

If I cast a debuff on an enemy unit, how does that work for my teammates? If I cast deathhex, can they ignore my opponents save? If I prevent them from getting cover save from a power, can they take advantage of it?
If I pick a secondary out of an army book, can anyone on my side of the table score it, or just the faction from that book?

if it targets a unit as a debuff and it is generic such as death hex's "unit may not take invulnerable saves" then anyone can benefit.
If you take a faction secondary, ONLY the team mate who has access to that secondary can take it (ie: ancient machines for necrons can only be scored by the necron player)

Death guard make great team mates, get that -1 T on everything for both teams.

I just remember in a previous event that taus over watch ability didn’t work on teammates units even though it said when a friendly unit was charged. So would abilities like that work at the event?
