Question regarding minor kit conversion in our local tournaments. If I were to say take a Battle Sister and replace the arm that has an empty pointing hand with an arm holding a chain sword to match the load out of a Sister Superior is that acceptable? Using GW parts. Or do you have to use the specific model designated as the Sister Superior in the box?

That is completely acceptable. I run all of the local tournaments and I have an entire army of smurfs... yes... actual smurfs... so our community is pretty darn accepting conversions are absolutely fine, and proxies are A-OK as long as they're close (ie: no, that landraider cannot represent your sister superior)

At nexus there are no modeling restrictions outside of: they your best to use the right size base, they your best to make a model roughly the same size, make sure any proxy or convertions are unique from a glance aka if you have 2 Canonese make sure I can tell them apart of I look at the model.
I know our Tournament organizer (T.O) has a full, hand made ultra marines list that is actually WYSIWYG smurfs models.
Just be aware that if you use a model you converted you dont gain benefits but do take drawbacks. A classic example is a lot of people use a creature caster demon as a demon prince even though it is taller and harder to hide BUT you couldn't use a space marine as a demon prince cause its size is wrong.
