After spending the last week painting I managed to get about 1000 points of Tsons mostly done. Didn’t managed to finish the hel turkey but he’s only got a bit more to go. Just the flames and a few details. But it was definitely a lot of fun getting these bad boys ready and just in time for the new book too! http://instagram.com/p/CSImT-BHfvj

Looking good!
I am jealous of your painting (one day I will learn how to weather) and your ability to take photos that actually make your paint job look good (less sure I'll improve on that front).

They look awesome!
I've seen lots of guides online that say to do the trim first, and then the flat areas for these guys. Is that what you did? If so, do you recommend going that?
I've got to get around to assembling my Thousand Sons, hahaha.

Thanks guys. The army was painted following ninjons guide here: youtu.be/tIB6ZMxBnbsI tried doing the gold first year ago when these models first game game and didn’t like painting that way. It’s harder to get into spots and GWs rattle can gold and paint pot aren’t color matched so it was annoying to touch up mistakes. So I recommend just painting the armour then going back and doing the trim after.

This is grim-dank yo. Should X-post to reddit and farm that karma, this is extremely well done.

I've got to get around to assembling my Thousand Sons, hahaha. I painted the gold first, then blocked in the panels for my tzaangor armour. I found it a bit easier, personally. I don't use GW's colour primers (or any spray can) though, so matching wasn't an issue. Either way, I think you will probably have touching up to do, so may as well try both options on a couple and see what you prefer

I like the subdued color scheme over the normally "hurts your eyes gold" that's prevalent on lots of Thousand Sons.
