so I think to start im getting the 2 books, the box set, and a box of special weapons.
Going to split that into 2 forces to fiddle around with over the summer before I expand on it. Should be a good time.
Edit: going for a battle of Calth sort of theme, Ultramarines vs Word Bearers

Prices! Box set $360 Kratos $150 Books $85
Rhino $56 Weapon upgrades $53
The marine boxes are $95 but they are a direct item. That means that they aren't part of the stores normal ordering system. We can get them but our margins are far worse. Basically don't expect them to just be sitting on the shelves they're gonna be special order items most likely. (All of us are mad at gw for this) Transfers $40 (also direct)

$40 for transfers, dag, I 'member when you got em free
Everything else is about right. It sucks the marines are not standard range stuff, I guess GW isn't ready to commit to 30k as a core supported system.

I hate when they set anything to direct, but it's so much more obnoxious when then do it with new items. I'm never going to order from your webstore GW. If I make the choice to pay full retail price, you can be damn sure I'm giving a local store a cut.
Upgrades and transfer prices are silly for what you're actually getting, but not surprising. Actually happy to see 20 marines for $95 though.

FW transfer sheets have always been a little outlandishly priced unfortunately. Fortunately, you get a tonne of transfers and they are amazing quality.

Everything else is about right. It sucks the marines are not standard range stuff, I guess GW isn't ready to commit to 30k as a core supported system. My guess is that the beakie box when it's released will be mainline but the rest will stay direct.

Yea, the MkIII and IV were from the previous editions. Makes sense that they wouldn't want to commit to them.

So let's start from the point that I admit both significant ignorance of and interest in 30K. If I am reading things correctly, classic marines are appropriately scaled for 30K. I have a lot of them, albeit painted as 40K DA. I also have a contemptor, a FW Spartan, and several alpha gen Rhinos as well as Predators. I also have 40K templates that I held on to (okay, some have been used as coasters but what greybeard hasn't?) and a whack load of dice in all denominations. If the scale is accurate, it seems to make sense that I limit my purchases to the core book, the Liber Astartes book, and some parts boxes rather than the big box. Would this be a fair assessment?
