Hooooooray I've had a piece I've been wanting to paint for 2 and a half months but I've been waiting on this comp for it. Downside I also have 1500 points of guard that need to be painted for the club champs

I am considering doing this, but not sure. Would be my first time, and I'm not great with painting deadlines, or trying harder than usual.
I certainly have enough stuff I need to tackle in my painting queue, but I'm not sure what would actually make a good choice for this sort of thing. Motivations to paint are welcome though.
How do people normally approach this?

Been a while since I've entered this but I used to pick something that I WANTED to do. Usually built from the ground up so I could base and mod without having to take anything apart. I found that worrying about what the most impressive model might be did nothing for me motivationally.

I use this as a chance to pick out my pile of shame and do something fun with them that I wouldn't normally do since they usually have nothing to do with armies or teams I'm currently building. The motivation is trying new techniques or making it something special. I would never have a use for the "bayards revenge" model but opportunities knocking.

I was going to shoot for the glottkin, but I've got a lot going on this month so I settled for his two riders magnetized to seperate bases. Plus a single ogor leadbelcher. Odds are I will get at least one of the three done lol

kaelon Wow that is an amazing sculpt! I hope you have fun with it and I bet it will look amazing. I am working on a High Gladiatrix and an Iron blaster. Not nearly as fun as your model must say.

With everything going on in this short month I only put in for a small base entry of Sister Tariana Palos. Hopefully I can do it justice before the times up.

So, first time doing a painting competition. When should minis be brought to the store? Does everyone wait 'till the 28th and there's a big flood of peeps and all that, or does Nexus have a display case set aside and it gets filled up as the month goes on?
Do they do a little ceremony day, or just post the winners after the judging period?
So many questions that probably don't matter, haha.
Is it bad form to post WIP pictures, or completed models here? Do people want to see them, or is everything a big secret? I mean sure, there's a little something on the line, but I see this more as something fun.
Anyways, enough babble for now.

You can always post WIP pics, that's never a problem. Generally they have had a case set up for display and they also take pictures and put on the Nexus site. They normally just announce the winners.
