Round 5:
Azrael reported to the Apothecary complaining of a headache after all the Psychic Blasts in the last battle and came out of the Apothecarium as PrimAzrael! (I found one after the game last week and had to get him ready for the last round).
Once again the Dark Angels (led by a taller Azrael) found themselves in a ruined Imperial City. The Infiltrators reported Knights and Armigers inbound! Azrael muttered that he should have kept the Deathwing Knights instead of taking Bladeguard.
One of the Knights charged across the battlefield, shooting aside a Tactical Squad and piling into the Bladeguard. They used Transhuman Physiology and Storm Shields to keep the Sergeant alive, stopping the Knight from consolidating into the gunline.
Urged by Azrael the Sergeant fell back, giving up his Oath of Moment but freeing up the gunline to blast away. Ten Heavy Hellblasters, three Multi-Melta Attack Bikes and three Eradicators took down the Knight and one Armiger, aide by the Ravenwing Champion getting up close and reducing the invulnerable save of the Knight. The enemy Knight detonated and took down several Dark Angels.
The next Knight moved up and dominated the centre while Armiger fire took down the Attack Bikes and an Armiger assault mopped up the last of the Infiltrators. The Heavy Hellblasters and Eradicators took down another Knight while the Bladeguard Sergeant moved back up the field to seize the centre.
The final knight and three wounded Armigers wiped the Eradicators, but the Heavy Hellblasters let fly again and all that was left was a final Armiger. The Ravenwing Champion moved in for the kill, once again reducing the invulnerable save to allow the Heavy Hellblasters to reap their terrible toll. The resulting explosion killed the Ravenwing Champion whose name will go on the list of Repentance on the Rock.
A wild game that looked bleak at the end of the first Knight turn. I lost most of my board presence early, and I was happy to have some speedy characters to get onto objectives once the Knights were neutralized.
Thanks for the game!
