We won't be using these style of homebrew rules locally for any tournaments etc. here.
Kneejerk reactions from these TO's in Germany are not new (see previous homebrew votann nerfs they enacted). The game isn't even officially released until Saturday!
If people are mad about 10th, that's their prerogative - Go ahead and make a thread on here specifically about 10th complaints or something and keep it contained there, rather than have it bleed over into other threads which just causes the original topics to go off the rails.

I dunno about changing overwatch to a 12" range.
the 24" range really makes you think about movement.

Those German TO changes kneejerked so hard, I had to use my cat-like reflexes to avoid the TKO.
Wow... they're those are just... wow. GW is quick to change rules now. If Sons and Eldar are burning up the meta with a 70-80% win rate, we all know that things are going to be modified. Likely Eldar more than anyone else because of Fate Dice, but Sons are also in line for toning down; but... let GW handle that one folks.
All GW can do is toss out the German data. It's such a dramatic change from the actual rules and intent of what was written that it's not even applicable to be used in order to help realize what changes are needed.

The German TO circuit has always been like this hasn't it? I seem to recall large German events running large bundles of house rules even before the 8th edition era. Highly proactive and perhaps indifferent to GW's data collection mechanism for 'official' changes, which is... probably fine. The rules are what everyone agree they are, if this method is popular in Germany I hope it works well for them even if it's useless for the advancement of the game else where ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's an academic discussion anyway, Kingston doesn't host these types of events and the main comp tournament isn't for aaaaaaages. In six months the stuff people will want to get cleared away for club champs will probably be totally different anyway.

The entire tournament circuit from 4th edition through 7th was basically just a bunch of agreed upon house rules....the biggest thing was which format you were going with (ITC/FLG, NOVA, WTC, etc etc). Complete with their own missions, FAQs, and straight up rules changes in some cases. During 3rd, 4th, and early 5th you had a weird 2 tier system between some pretty wild house rules/composition systems and the GW Ard Boyz circuit (and believe you me, if you think things are weird and cut throat now....5th edition Ard Boyz was a whole other level of bullshit)

Yeah I remember the NOVA ITC stuff from 5-7, before that I had no conception of the larger tourney world- I just have a vague recollection that the German rules bundles tended to be more eager to make the jump from necessary rulings to straight up modifications. Could be I'm misremembering though. I actually think things are pretty okay generally now and that most of the outstanding issues are eminently fixable. Even Arks-era 9th has among the largest representation of armies at almost every level. Certainly I have played quite a lot of 40k when things were significantly less pleasant (I still have PTSD from being tabled 3 times in a row by riptide lists in 7th...). Lash princes, wolfjaw spam, ripwings, scatbikes, dognados & decurions- there's no shortage of moments in oldhammer where things got a little bonkers. Gonna play a ton of 10th this weekend and report back though. Probably others have the same plan in mind
