Hey wanted to sleep on and reflect a little on the tournament. It was super fun! thank you Zach for running things smoothly. Some thoughts:
- Loved the printed off list that you got when you checked-in at the front, I know it's an extra thing but it was very nice and appreciated. - terrian on all 3 tables I played on were super solid, loved having the terrian layout maps at the table to help confirm with other players how the terrian should act and make sure there are no misunderstandings. I felt 80% of forces could be set up out of LoS if the other side didn't move at all which is a nice bench mark. - I think 7-8 tables felts like the right amount for doubles, I think there was more cap space but this felt good - Great to see some familar faces I haven't seen in a while and some new faces of people coming into the hobby. - Format for 2 man, fixed teams, felt great in a more competitive format, the lists we played looked like a lot of thought was put in.
- I think the 2.5 hr rounds felt good in terms of being able to stay focused on a game but I think talking to other and through play, that the 1500 per player / 3000 per team might have been ambitious for the time frame. We had 1 game go to 5 turns, due to a turn 3 tabling and just point scoring 2 rounds, both are other games got to turn 3 which was nice but both felt like they could have been vey close if we had the time to get to 5 turns. I think maybe 1000 per player /2000 team might be a good goal to try to get more games to turn 4-5, while still letting people have some toys
- BCP was easy to use for scoring and rounds went up quickly which was great. Again I really liked the W/L/D scoring with SOS and points as tie breakers
- Prize support was great, I'd even say that 5 x130 could have been 6x $100 with a 7th $50 to share the love.
Very Excited for some more tournaments.
