Well thought i would try anouther lizardmen list. Havent played in a while and i haven't played much 8th but here is what im thinking
Lord Slann general also bsb. arcane: Cupped hands of the old ones(put miscast on enemy wizard on 2+), Enchanted Item: Divine Plague of protection (2+ ward vs ranged), Diciplines, Focus of mystry (know all spells in lore) and The focused rumination (free power die for each spell) and magic banner: sun standard of chotec (-1 to missle attacks and -2 if withing 12 inches)
Heros Skink priest level 2 ancient stegadon engine of the gods, dispel scroll and dawnstone
Skink priest level 2 Cube of darkness and venom of the firefly frog (for rerolls to hit with poison weapons)
Core
40 saurus HW shield full command
39 skinks Javalin and shield with brave
Special
25 Temple Guard full command and wailing banner
Rares
2 x salamander with 4 handlers
total 2387 points
not sure how it will do, i am only taking the temple gaurd as buffer for the slann. i did put a lot of points into heros so i could take out the stegadon and put in anouther group of skinks. also not sure what lore to use.

if the slann is the bsb can he have magic items? also dont forget you can cast spells from the slann as if he is where the skink priests are.

I personally prefer to have the skinks in smaller units to give more deployments and some flexibility so that the large blocks and EoTG can go where I really want them. Here are a few suggestions that you can consider: 1. Use 4 units of skinks vice 1 - more deployments and they can go after enemy fast cav, missile troops etc. - the shooting is fantastic and a block of 40 will lose a lot of those shots to 3rd/4th rank troops. The skinks will get crushed in combat by just about any other ranked unit in the game so better to lose only 10 than a unit of 40. 2. Slaan - the plaque of protection is a waste IMHO. The slaan is in a unit and gets a look out sir roll followed by a 4+ ward save and has 5 wounds. Perhaps the MR2 or 3 item to increase the ward save vs magical attacks that can target individual characters. Lore of life is the normal choice for a Slaan since it rocks!! 3. TG Banner - Terror doesn't do much in 8th so the wailing banner is expensive for very little. A better, cheaper choice is the razor standard (armour piercing) or give the unit +1 LD banner so they have LD 10 on 3 dice with the slaan in it!! 4. skinks priests - that dawnstone is actually a good idea to help the priest vs S3/4 shooting. Of note, the priests can only channel magic missiles from the Slaan, not any other type of spell. The venom of the fire fly frog is kind of wasted on the 2nd priest - if he is in combat, he is very likely to die since he is WS2/T2!! 5. Misc - After dropping some of the items and changing the TG banner, there will be some points available. A fairly cheap option is a unit of chameleon skinks. Scouts are always worth their points and with double shooting, poison attacks and the ability to deploy close to the enemy to start, chameleon skinks are very useful. b. Scar Vet or krox - the list lacks some heavy (S6 or better) attacks to tackle really tough monsters or characters. One option is to field tooled up scar vet or, for the same price, 3 krox to give the list some higher strength attacks. However, the TG will be S5 with armour piercing so play a few games first and then decide. That's about it for now. I would recommend getting some games in and seeing how 8th ed works before making any big changes (i.e. buying more models!!). Good luck and hope to see you Thursday.

Im pretty sure he can im not sure if there is a rule or something but i always did it i will have to check in the book tho. again thanks Frank you always have good advice. Yeah the plague is probably useless. I was also thinking about giving the slann immunity to all but magic attacks and then give him MR so he was really hard to kill but i think all the spells in a lore and free power dice are an auto include. so smaller groups of skinks will be better. groups of 10 or 15? yah i thought the dawn stone on the 2+ save would be a good idea cause most people try to kill the skink on the engine as soon as they can

Yes, the Slaan can carry a magic banner and magic items and be the general, which is why he is such a popular choice for lizzie armies.

also being level 4 wizard, having leadership 9 and being able to take a tonne of different disciplines that can make him do a tonne of things doesn't hurt ether lol

Chakax (special character) not sure how cheap it is to take one in this edition but makes my temple gaurd unbreakable with the slann, can re roll look out sirs and in a challenge all your magic weapons are normal weapons, as well as some no scouts with in 20" and such

it seems good. you have almost my lizzie army so i think its great. also what do you mean you dont know how cheep it is to take chakax? like point cost? cuz he is not cheep lol

oh i know he isnt cheap points wise but i mean by taking special characters, i know in the last edition it was like ok you take some special character and people thought you were super cheesy and such

used the list, and chakax sucks. lol Should have kept the ancient steg, that and the fact that i had a stratagy but didnt fallow it made me die fast lol. But i will say lore of life with a slann and cupped hands of the old ones is way op lol
the ability to do throne of vines, miscast and pass it off on anouther wizard and then miss cast two more spells that turn to give your unit d6 +1 models back and +4 toughness is rediculous, but not too rediculous that im not going to use it lol
