This will be our last tournament of 7th edition and first of 8th edition! We will have 7th ed with a twist, as each game will incorporate one of the new major changes of 8th edition (but otherwise be all the rules you already know)... this will give everyone a chance to try out some of the new features of the new edition... Three games on Friday evening will be 1500 point level, and the three games Saturday will be 2250 points. Friday July 9th - 6 PM registration (first game starts at 6:30PM sharp!) Saturday July 10th - 9:30 AM registration (first game starts at 10:00 AM sharp!) More details to follow..... signups will occur here: www.kingstonnexus.ca/events/?event_id=159

Frank and I are going to meet this week to hammer out the details....
I would anticipate that you do not have to use the same army list both days (as 8th ed is going to be pretty signficantly different so wouldn't make sense to use the same list)
The rumours posted are pretty dead on accurate, so you can have an idea of how a list should be made under the new system...
Nexus having the preview book is great, because you can just double check any questions directly...

Even though most of my Dwarf army is painted, with changes in 8th and therefore the desire by some to add new/extra units that they previously didn't use (eg buying a new box of warriors to beef up the ranks, etc), it might be difficult to get everything painted. I will try to paint my guys (I prefer having my models painted for tourneys) but it will still be awhile before I am sure what list I am planning to take since I have to have a few more persusals of the new book. I think no painting requirement or a very limited requirement would be best for the switch to the new system and new lists. Just my thoughts

I am certainly not able to have my army painted in time. I hope to have a unit or two done, but the entire army (being bretonnia) i have a lot of models to paint. =)
That said, i respect that tournaments generally are for painted armies, and with good reason. Whatever you guys decide, will be a-okay with me =)

Frank and I will certainly talk about the painting issue... as it seems to be on everyone's mind...
I know for certain it won't be a requirement to have 100% painted (that's normally reserved for KinCon only)
What would people feel is reasonable? oh wait a sec... I'll add a poll!

I know I won't have an 8th sized High Elf army ready....I'm not buying more spearmen until the new starter box guys come out. I'm also going to be dropping half the units in my army and making others bigger to try, also forcing the use of models I don't have. I know I can't afford to buy 20 more Phoenix Guard to "try it out"
That said, setting a painting requirement for the 7th edition part of the tourney is certainly fine.

As I indicated earlier I am not concerned whether armies are painted or if proxies are used. I'm not all that concerned about fully assembled meaning all the bits done, however it is not as much fun if the other guy has a bunch of units that are just legs on bases. Thats a little to unassembled for me.

I completely understand the need to have rules and regulations for tournament play. It keeps a certain level of prestige to Warhammer when you're playing against someone's painted army.
I will certainly not be ready, but I am an advocate of rewarding those who put the work into their armies to be presentable for tournament play. You guys do some awesome painting, it's a lot of fun to check out.
I think it could be a slippery slope if we begin to allow certain concessions in tournament play. On regular Thursdays i don't see a problem with it, but we do need the 'official' days to seem more 'official', and it forces those of us who have not painted to put the effort in.
Whatever you guys decide, is cool with me. Loving the warhammer community in kingston so far, it has been fantastic.

We normally have a certain requirement for painting, however with all of the changes with 8th, this tourney will likely have a very relaxed requirement (if there is one at all)...
We should have the basic structure of the tourney done this week, so it'll give lots of time for planning....

Yeah, the general tournaments I run have AT LEAST a 50% painting requirements. As Shannon said, 8th edition kind of throws a wrench in things what with the complete new force requirements and changes in what "useful"
