okay, the meeting of the minds has concluded
so here's the way the tourney is going to play out...
Friday July 9th - 7th edition with benefits!
Three games total - 1500 point army list - NO TIER SYSTEM - regardless of your army, you get 1500 points.
We will be using percentage army construction - NO SLOTS - max 25% lord, max 25% hero, 25% minimum core, max 50% special, max 25% rare (just like how 8th is going to be)
Game One:
Standard 7th edition rules with the exception of movement rules - we will be using the movement rules for marching, charging, reforming from 8th edition.
Special scenario - the change in editions is throwing everything into chaos - choose one unit in the opposing force up to 250 points (excluding characters) - you gain control of that unit for the game - your opponent does the same. 100 bonus victory points for slaying the treacherous unit!
Game Two:
Standard 7th ed rules except for movement AND you will generate power dice and dispel dice under the new 8th edition rules (using the 7th edition lores however)
Special scenario: Look we get objective games now! - generate D3+2 objectives, placed anywhere on the table that are at least 12" from another objective or a table edge. Controlling an objective (with a unit that has at least five models) is worth 200 Victory Points extra at the end of the game. you control if you are the only unit within 3" of an objective - contesting an objective yields no victory points.
Game Three:
Standard 7th ed rules with the exception of movement and generating magic dice as above, AND combat will be fought as per 8th edition: fights are in initiative order, +1 CR for charging, supporting attacks... with the exception -> no horde rule for this game!
Special Scenario: Look how useful BSB's are now! If you do not have a BSB character, nominate a model to be the BSB, allowing rerolls to ALL psychology tests (just like 8th). If you have a BSB already, their radius increases to 18" instead of 12". Having such a useful character comes at a price however - he is worth an additional 200 VP if he is slain!
Saturday July 10th - Full 8th Edition Rules!!!!!
Three games, 2250 point level. Army construction is by the percentage system, and all 8th edition rules are in place. There is no tier system (as we're sure GW has perfectly balanced the system... right?). Scenarios will be right out of the 8th ed rulebook.
We will be constructing cheat sheets with some of the major rules on it for use in the tourney. Please note the lores of magic have changed significantly, and you must declare what lore you are using for what mage - this remains in effect for the ENTIRE day! (you cannot switch lores between games - that's totally gone in 8th ed!)
Painting requirement - there is none... 0% painted requirement in this tourney - but you must have models to represent your units (no empty trays or strange proxies - if it's close we don't care, but don't try saying your goblin is actually a giant!)
Line of Sight - a big bone of contention thus far... for this tourney (until we hear definitively what the other clubs/tournies are doing in the area because we want to be consistent) we're sticking with hills / forests / buildings block line of sight if the terrain is between you and the model you're targeting.
You can obviously bring a different list for the two days, but you must bring the same army both days.
so here's the way the tourney is going to play out...
