July 4th Warhammer 40k TAG TEAM tourney

Hey all, so the votes were cast at Da House, and then it broke...but Tag Team seemed to have a sizable lead on the other categories.


So, in that case our next 40k tourney will be a TAG TEAM event, at 1000 points per player (2000 pt teams).

The following rules will apply:

Teams are chosen before hand, and players enter as a team (message me if you need help finding a partner).

Teams operate on 1 Force Organization Chart! Both players must have minimum 1HQ and 1Troop choice, the rest is up to you. Each team also has 1 "Free" force organization slot, which can be used to go over the normal cap. (IE for a 3rd HQ or 4th Elite choice).

Army lists will be submitted to me at [e-mail] before the tourney (by July 1st at latest, or else scoring penalties will apply) and will be scored on composition, getting between 1 and 5. Please include with your list a short piece of fiction (roughly 1/2 - 1 Word page) talking about why your armies will be paired....be as zany as you want, but remember it will count towards your army composition score. I intend to play, and will be submitting my list to a 3rd party to be separately scored.

Models do NOT have to be painted in the least, though they must be assembled and clearly recognizable for what they are.

Scenarios will be posted HERE, and at Da House of Pain (if it works) and at Kingston Gaming Nexus minimum 1 week before the event so that everyone has a fair chance to see them before playing.


I am going to temporarily cap sign-ups at 16 teams, though if we get enough interest I'm sure there can be more space opened up.

awesome, I always wanted to start a zombie guard army.... are you allowed using the vraks ruleset?

Not here, no. But I know the guys in Trenton love allowing Forge World rules.

I respect that the guys up at The Lost Forums want to do that, but I really disagree with it, as most of that stuff is NOT balanced or playtested anywhere near properly, and tends to quickly screw up games, especially if the foe doesn't know what they do.

Case in point, last Trenton tourney I went to I fought a guy with some kind of Apocalypse Only dreadnought drop pod that let him assault when he deep strikes. He assaulted my platoon of 50 guardsmen (most of my armies shooting) on turn 1 due to drop pod assault, and basically won the game because he stopped me from shooting the entire game.

I agree with that and I'm a player who mainly travels to the Trenton Tournaments (I'm from the Port Hope/Cobourg area). Nothing like building a list that you think is balanced only to face some kind of crazy unit you didn't even know existed because you've never read a Forge World book. In most cases I take it in stride but I do agree that some of that stuff isn't really proper for tournament play.
