Hey, if you don't mind.. I'm most likely going to join for this tourney.. I still need to get in a game or two of 6th tho... Got my hand on the RuleBook a few days ago. So if I show up I'm still going to be new'ish to 6th tho, if that not a problem. Oh and my army is a amazingly shade of gray.. You no paint-less

Its not a problem most of us dont have an army painted... Thats why I love Feb tournament force me to paint .... Also dont worry about beeing newish there is always new players or player that play only for tournament in our tournament. Im sure you will enjoy Mike always do great tournament.

The more the better, new is fine. i played some of my first warhammer games in a tournament. its a great way to get experience against different armies and meet different people.

on the note of painting.... can the grayness be the one of three colours?

in the December 8th tourney it can be all three colours.... for the February tourney... nope... but you can always have black primer be one of your colours if you really want...
...or coloured primers from army painter make an easy first colour for big areas... you know like tyranid skin!

Ironically, I have to agree with the article you posted up about painting to play. In there the author claims that the only color primer should be is black. And after my experiences painting, I have to somewhat agree. Primer should be black or white, as if you try to use colored primer, if you make a mistake by painting onto the primer color, you'll never be able to match it with another paint. So priming black or white, basing the entire model with a brush in your base color seems like it has far more benefits.
That being said, color primer is a huge time saver, especially if you just need the 3 colors minimum to get onto the table.

I have a question, this might need to be forwarded to Mike since he's hosting.
I still haven't received my bits for my Finecast Thunder Wolf Lord, he had miscasts on his shield/arm and backpack, I called GW again, they said the bits are in the mail but they could be delayed because of how busy it is this time of year.
He is modeled WYSIWYG (Hammer, Talismans, etc) other than the missing pieces, so I'm wondering if this might be a problem.

I'd ask Mike, but historically he's pretty lenient with proxies/incomplete models if necessary so long as it's made clear.
I know for a fact I won't have the pilots in my Speeders/Storm Talon because I'm going to be painting them AdMech red, and don't want to do it with them glued into a white vehicle. I also MAY not have my whole command squad completely modeled as I still can't find any Apothecary bits.

I highly doubt it would be a problem....

what kind of detail does a mycetic spore need to have for it to be legal? gonna suppose that half of a bottle wont work.. but what type of detail? aos, can i play shannon's homemade tervigon wthout a base? also, the same questions also go towards the feb torney

I played that tervigon for two years without a problem (before I bought the new kits), so I doubt anyone would give you grief about it...
Detail is up to you... I'd say for a home made job like you're contemplating, I'd finish it and paint it.... it wouldn't take long... maybe a couple hours for the build, and a couple hours to paint it... totally doable in a week!
February Tourney... converted and painted only... the instructions you posted in your other thread look to be just fine detail wise for a spore... if a little big... but given there's no model, it's hard to judge... just has to look like it could fit ONE carnifex sized model in it (ie - could your tyrant ride in it?) to be accurate...
throw some goopy hot glue tendrils and some spikes on it and you're probably good....
