on the box, it says you can make three heavy weapons teams. however, since it gives you three autocannons and three lascannons, can you get three more bases and make 6 out of it?

This is in the wrong spot, if this could be moved by a mod, plz/thanks
And no Harry. They do give you enough weapons, but you only get 2 guardsmen to man each weapon, and you only get 1 set of the pieces you need to mount the weapon. (I just assembled one of these last week)
GW Kits are setup so that you get all of the options. But you won't be able to make more models than the box says it comes with. (They think about this stuff, they wouldn't be in business if you could get twice as many models as advertised out of their kits.)

what about with correct bits and pieces? or if you just use one guardsman to man each, and directly place the weapon on the base? it'll look HORRIBLE, yes..

Imperial guard are a probably one of the most expensive armies in the first place, due to their high model count and cheap points costs.
I mean, you COULD do it, but if your trying to build a guard army for cheap, you'd be further ahead to just buy someones used army and then fill it out the way you want it with kits.
Anything is possible, it's just a matter of $$$ vs Time, if you want to spend less of one, you've got to spend more of the other.
Honestly, what I've seen with this kit in particular, is that your further ahead to just buy another kit. If you wanted to make 12 teams from 2 kits instead of 4, (Savings = $100), you'd probably have to buy a box of guardsmen ($35), bases ($10 for 3) and then raid your bits bin, use greenstuff and spend a bunch of time converting the models to look good (Probably an hour per team, so let's say 6 hours).
In the end, you probably save $50 dollars, but spend 6 extra hours to do it. If your that tight for money and trying to build a guard army, it's going to take you a long time to assemble it.

Guard are probably the second most expensive army to build next to sisters of battle. Any good list is going to cost a ton of cash to build unfortunately....
and if you're looking to save a few bucks on the heavy weapons teams, trying to make the one box build multiples is going to not look right and in the end not save you very much only to have what amounts to proxies on bases.... not a good idea...

ya i have some home made chariots i got in a used army they look like (i should not use the few words i have in mind) they have 40k bases as the wheeles i was not happy and i will never feild them so i guess you could try but in the end you might not like the outcome and just waisted time and money. you could always just sell the extra guns to an ork player as the more dakka the better lol. also i dont know the modle but if it can be magnitized do it.

unfortunatly for you thats not a game for people tight on money.... if you are tight and you are still young I suggest you stick with one army and work hard on it (unless your parents are rich)....
EDIT: Also you still have to understand your army and paint it thats gonna take you a while... I think you are a good new young player and there is not a lot now this days at your age that like that kinda game.

you DO need bases....... I think also.... they planned to have 2 guys in each squad, so if you dont mind it looking bad, you can just use the guy holding the binoculars as a guy operating the weapons
