Next Project – Space Pirates!
Inspired by a bunch of stuff I really enjoy; giant robots, pirates, 40k, giant robots and tanks. (Did I mention giant robots?) I’m planning on doing my first actual loyalist army in my 18 year history of 40k. Granted they’ll still be on the shady side of good as they’re pirates but they’re still better than full on Chaos I guess… I’m a big fan of the Dust Tactics: Axis tanks, something about legs on an armored vehicle just looks really cool to me; so with that in mind, I’ll be doing an Astra Militarum list with Knights as allies. The Knights will be Captain Harlock, Kay and Yama while the tank commander (Pask) will be Yullian to round out the crew of the Arcadia from the movie Space Pirate Captain Harlock.
When my 3D printer arrives (early April most likely), if it’s cooperative enough in the detail department I plan on doing some 3D pieces to convert a regular Knight to a FW size knight. It’ll also hopefully give me the opportunity to do up some cool weapons and/or armor pieces that would be really difficult to sculpt from scratch. It’s a long-lead project but one that I hope to have finished sometime in late 2016. I’m excited about the possibilities of the knights as they’re a model with some really huge conversion potential.

Lol, yeah I guess I’m a sucker for projects with obscure reference material. It just means there’s that many fewer people that could possibly have a similar idea!

I've been meaning to watch Harlock for a while. You've just reminded me to. That'll be super cool.

Love seeing this kind of stuff, gives me something to aspire to. Just wish I had more patience when painting. 1 hour a day usually is like pulling teeth for me, AND I'm a slow painter to boot.

Thanks Justin! The bones have all been bleached so I'm planning on adding them on post primer to keep as much of the natural color as possible I the finished model.
