I know that there are some X-Wing players down in Kingston but there is a budding community starting in the Trenton area. As such, we're going to hold our own little tournament in the near future. Right now, it's looking for an August date and if so I don't want to have it conflict with any previously announced tournaments for other games. If interested or wish to chime in, the thread can be found here: thelostforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=1345.msg9044#msg9044All are welcome!

How kid friendly would this be? X-wing is the game I play with my youngest son (11), and thus far the one tourney I attended was with him (kind of our game, while Tommy's the 40k kid!)
Not sure if I can attend or not, but if I were, this could be a deciding factor either way...

How kid friendly would this be? To be honest, Shannon, I'm not entirely sure what you particularly mean by "kid friendly". This will be Trenton's first X-Wing tournament, so if you and your son have been to one tournament already and know the rules well, then you'll be a bit better off than most of the Trenton crowd as the game has only sprung up in the last month or so. As far as I know, the Trenton guys won't discriminate. Some are teachers, some have kids, but most likely your son would be the youngest one there. I'm assuming, as he's your son, that he's a gentleman and knows that winning isn't everything (ie: not a sore loser) cause I know from having met you a couple times that you're a stand up guy. Most of the guys playing X-Wing in Trenton are the same ones you would have met playing 40K and Warmachine over the years. I would love it if you and your son came, but any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Basically the main question was just me wondering if we made the trip would people be okay playing against a kid, some communities don't really care much, but some do... some tournies I'm fine bringing him to (ie: WHFB/xwing) but others are just too competitive for people to have the patience for a younger player (warmachine/40k)even if he is a good sport. The regionals here for example I'm not sure if we'll partake as it's a more competitive crowd and there's a sizable contingent from outside the area that are looking for advancement to the higher level tournies (and the upcoming regionals are qualifiers for) we're likewise just learning the ins and outs of this game, last tourney we only had one win between the two of us! (so it's okay we're perfectly used to not winning games )

I don't see the age of your son being an issue. Everyone has to start somewhere when it comes to gaming. And if anyone makes it an issue, then I have an issue. The person who got second at the Hamilton Regional was 10 years old: sentrybox.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/star-wars-x-wing-regional-report/Now, I will be enforcing the 75 minute time limit, but I doubt that will be a major issue. There's enough new people that several games might not end quickly. As I said, we're all still pretty new at this as well. If you're free, I'd love to see you both there. I hope it would be an environment you guys would enjoy.
