Ya it was a super fun tournament, It feels like it's a good bi-yearly, or tri-yearly (once every 2-3 years) format. Give people some recovery time after a solid 8.5 hours of gaming in one day.
Overall a lot of fun and some great armies and fun combos. Thanks Shannon and Nexus.

My only complaint is about the refresh, I'd drop it to 2k points and instead of a round two point refresh; institute a 1k "tap out" to round 1. If you lose half your army round 1 your game is over. Round 2 and on, kid gloves come off and tabled is tabled. That way it's more like a true iron man but you can't get knocked out turn one and will likely see three games.

I understand why they did it that way they wanted everyone to have a fun day of playing. And it didn't effect the people who were doing the best as they were all way over the minimum

It did effect me, the unit that tabled me was removed earlier in the day by Tom. If he hadn't been able to re-up I would have never faced it.

There were a couple of things that got added without anyone being told that really did affect the outcome of the day, and speaking for myself, if I'd known about the reinforcements, shorter game times, and the random teamups at the end of the day, I'd of slept in for one, and then used the entry fee to buy most of the first pitcher of beer I'd of been drinking on a patio saturday afternoon.

There were alot of things added on the fly that I certainly didn't expect as well. for example I thought there were going to be minimums going into game two and three so that people were guarenteed three games for the tourney (so 1k minimum for game two, and 500 for game three) which is fair given they were paying to enter, you should at least be getting three games for your money. I had originally thought game 3+ was eliminations, and the doubles was a last minute surprise as well.
Hoping people still had fun regardless.
I'm not sure what unit you were talking about Matt, but there were supposed to be restrictions in what was re-upped from what I understood (I was actually not present for any of these conversations though to be fair) and the only way to add points back was if you were under the minimum, which for the first game was 1k, then 750, 500 and 250. by the time we played the doubles game you were well over 1k left in your list, so anyone you faced afterwards would have at most 1k if they re-upped at all and lost nothing between the game with Tom and the game with you.

It was the melee cron unit that was on my side to begin with in our game. Tom had said he’d destroyed it to the man in a prior game. Regardless, next time the Iron Man format comes up I think there needs to be some hard rules put into place for what happens when you lose points as the on-the-fly crap was annoying beyond belief.

Just clarification Matt, that melee Cron unit was never wiped out in any game and Jack never played Tom so I'm not sure where that miscommunication came from (that unit of 14 only lost 3 models all tournament and one was to you in that challenge). At the end of the day the winner still had 900 points standing, going into the team round he was at 1650.
I think some random stuff did happen, rules where bend and altered to make more people enjoy themselves and get some play time for their money.
Overall I think that in a non objective based tournament some armies will always have massive combos that are pretty impractical in a objective based game but with 3 Necrons, using Decurion, in the top 8 spots. I think that shows just how strong it is when objectives are forgotten about. When 50% of fail saves are discounted it's going to be tough.

yeah Jack's melee cron unit was never destroyed... know that for a fact.
Tom was talking about his game vs. Chris were he fought a VERY depleted version of the same unit, and killed the remainder... it was not vs. Jack's fully operational Death Star!!!!

and my crons never used that unit...lol...just sayin....
