Hello everyone! My name is Lukas, been a Kingstonian since 2009, formerly from the Quinte West/Brighton region. I started playing tabletop games around 2002 and got into 40k in early 2003, during the last years of 3rd edition and the very beginnings of Tau. I played religiously twice a week at J&B books for around 3 years, enjoying casual games and tournaments, buying thousands of dollars worth of models, painting (almost) half of them, enjoying everything that 4th brought to the table and overall having a great time. But suddenly, everyone I played with left or dropped the hobby, seemingly overnight. I moved my models to the basement where they collected dust until around 2013 and then I sold them for a silly low price to pay for some school books. Fast forward to a month or so ago. A good friend calls me up and says that he just got some started pack for "That warhammer game you used to play". He had picked up the Dark Vengeance box and had learned some of the rules with another friend of mine. We played a couple games and I was hooked again. I'm neck deep in painting the beginnings of a tau army. They were my first, and it seemed fitting to start with them again. I've also always loved the aesthetics of the firewarriors and battlesuites. It stings a bit that it's now pretty much confirmed that there will be new models within the next couple months, but I'm not too deep into it yet. I'd love to come down to Nexus some weekend and meet with some people, get a feel for the community. Looking forward to meeting you all

Thanks! I'll probably be popping by to check out the tourny.
Also, are the regular drop in days sundays for 40k? Do people usually pre-arrange games?

regular 40k days are Saturday afternoons... people tend to start showing up between noon and 1 and start organizing armies and setting up games - most days people just either roll off or choose to play against something cool or fun - it's pretty laid back for certain!
we can pretty much accomodate any point level that you have... most games locally are 2k, but we can adjust!

Good to hear from you! Did you ever attend any of the tournaments in Trenton? That community was really active for a while and then just kind of dried up.

I did! Back when they were holding them in the oddfellows lodge. Tons of good times there. They had these awesome cheese tournaments with stupid stuff like triple monolith armies, an armoured company list, daemon prince spams and such. I actually did very well in that tourny with a 1850pt all cheap infantry Guard list. There were so many models, and most people didn't have enough firepower to kill all my super cheap guardsman. Got mulched by those monoliths though. I think that was in the very beginnings of 4th. Did a couple of regular tournaments as well. Bob at J&B Books is also an awesome dude, so that kept me coming back. Remembered my name after 10 years too!
I checked out the tag team tourny on saturday. Thank you for letting me watch the tail end of one of the games! Really got me in the painting mood. Rushed back home and put the finishing touches on a squad of Fire Warriors, painted a broadside and primed a whole wack of stuff. I met a couple people, and I'm going to try and make it out either this saturday or the next.
