That's fair. Just having a hard time with Orks in the single CAD. I forgot whats its like when you can't bring 4-5 HQ's to get all those pain boyz where you need them, also you can't just spam single deffkoptas to fill up fast attack and gain 18+ units easy. Plus admittedly the no super heavies hurts a little cause nothing makes up the utility you get out of a stompa at 500pts.
I shall keep working on it however and see what the Waaagh can provide.

nobody is going to get everything at this point level and with the limits of the tourney... that's intentional.
it's supposed to be a fun one day event.
There's no way in hell I'd allow a superheavy (ie: stompa) at this point level. I'd never allow it at 1500 either. The ITC is dead wrong in my opinion.
It is not required in the least for orks either. They actually excel at this point level due to the cheapness of the bodies / dangerous options that other people can't hope to field in numbers.

I'm most definitely bringing a horde of Orks with Zagstruk. The list is not really thought out or planned at all. Just fling a wall of green and axes at people. Should be grand.

Planning to be there but can't make up my mind on who to bring. Orks are great for yuks, bugs because I rarely play them, or marines for a return to old school force org. And I really mean "old school" (my hair was still brown then). From back when ITC didn't exist, GTs were rare, and most of us did this just for fun. Now that I think about it, playing with my funny bone sounds like the best idea for this one (which pretty much eliminates marines). Ahh, the possibilities ...

Question: If I do decide to go full crazy and run the Astra Militarum list, will the Deathstrike actually use the Apoc Template? I ask because we've taken everything down to a 5" blast, but every weapon we've done that to can fire more than once, and can (reliably) fire in their first shooting phase.

Are we still dropping the template sizes? I thought that was a club championships thing. I mean after playing in the CC I didn't see any real evident that the template size was game breaking. what about other people? Or I'll move this to a different tread...

There isn't a CC only thing for rulings. It is for all tournaments. The only thing that differentiates tournaments is the # of games, army comp, and scoring.
Personally, I don't like anything being larger than 5" blast, but that's just me. If we were to remove the template size restriction, then it would 100% have to apply to all templates. I really don't like exceptions. But the rules change is probably for another thread.

This sounds like a great tournament. I like the smaller points and how everyone has to take a CAD.
I am from the Peterborough area and hope to make it out for the tournament.
Are there any house rules at this tournament?
I know you can't guarantee numbers but in the past what is your turn out like for your tournaments?

Our last 40k tourney had 34, but that was our club championship (full weekend event) the tourney in December had 26 (a one day event) I'm also looking forward to this one as well I'm estimating between 25-30 would be a good guess. Our local FAQ is here: kingstonwarhammer.proboards.com/thread/6465/current-kingston-40k-tourney-comp?page=1although some things won't apply given we aren't having superheavies, formations, etc. at this one In other news, Nexus site is doing a signup page for this now (thankfully!): kingstonnexus.ca/events/warhammer-40k-the-great-crusade/#em-bookingJust select "pay offline" to pay on the day of the tourney. Signing up ahead of time allows me to plan for numbers / printing etc. so I really do appreciate it EDIT - Sorry Matt, I totally missed your question above re: templates. Our current comp is all templates are regular (ie: non-apoc) templates. don't blame me... blame Forge World and Eldar

Curses, the Deathstrike gets the nerf bat and is rendered useless. Cest’ La Vie.

The template discussion should probably continue in our rules discussion thread.
If people want the big templates, make a case for it. (just be prepared for the Typhon to be brought up!)
we're always changing and updating things for certain!

As an update on the tourney itself it appears that our cap is 30 for this.
If you're planning on coming I'd pre-sign up - this one will very likely fill up

This tourney has brought back the pain of Kharn not being in the KDK book with a vengeance.
