Sorry for the delay my team just signed up. First time in a week I've had a minute to sit down in front of a computer. I think that puts us at 6 teams!!

hey quick question about the allies of convenience rule. Is it that all different faction models are allies of convenience, or each players armys are allies of convenience to each other? For example, If I bring a list of Dark Eldar and Eldar for my 1000 points are they allies of convenience to each other?

I was going to do modified maelstrom as per ITC (basically doing ITC scenarios which are a mix of both) but now I'm on the fence. There seems to be a LOT of new players coming to this one and I know a full weekend tourney, especially with the team dynamic can make things somewhat complicated.
So wondering if it's better to just stick with straight book missions, first blood/linebreaker/warlord as secondaries. Keep the missions simple (we should have at least ONE tourney a year with just book missions right???) so that the other complicated dynamics don't screw things up. That's the way I'm leaning right now. At this moment. lol

Everyone just counts as allies of convenience to their partner (geez Tim as returning champ you should know this! )
so that way Tyranids still get to have as many friends as space marines... so everyone is on an equal playing field regardless. So yes, technically if you have a chaos player and a space marine player on the same team for this tourney they would be allies of convenience with one another.
Within your OWN list, you would follow the allies matrix as per normal. So if I were crazy enough to bring a mixed list of Tyranids and Eldar, the Eldar would be scared and need to keep far away from the crazy elf eating bugs.
Think of your army as a self contained army that you would build under normal rules (just no superheavies/GMC's beyond a SINGLE imperial/chaos knight)

most teams I've seen formed have happened on Saturdays at Nexus over the past three weeks...with lots of new people (not on the forum) some of our regulars aren't even planning on attending this one!

Reading this reminds me of a question our group had about allies of convenience - we played a relic mission to practice and it says you can only pass relics off to 'friendly' models. As I recall (without the rulebook in front of me) your allies of convenience aren't considered to be friendly. Can we pass a relic between our forces or do we have to hang onto it ourselves?
Also sorry if this isn't the appropriate place for rules questions.

it's totally fine to ask such a question here!
specific to this tourney, if you want to pass the relic to your teammate that's totally fine. The relic just can't move more than 6" total (so it's not I move it six, pass it to my friend who ALSO moves it six)

The only way to pass it is at the end of the movement phase if they are both in base contact with the relic anyways, so that's what prevents chaining it.
