I'm planning on doing something like what's pictured here. Essentially an open rectangle for fitting a pair of D6's into. This is for larger models (tanks, flyers, MC's etc.) and can fit a pair of Chessex standard 16mm dice. Also working on an option for a pair of their smaller dice. That way all you need is a pair of D6's of the appropriate size and bam, use one as the tens, the other as the ones and you're all set for whatever model you've got the counter on. I'm considering putting on some decoration to the outside of the box and keeping the corners sharp. Detailing dependent on the army I'm playing and may/may not be 3D sculpted then printed in. Shapeways kind of forces you to be really proud of your 3D models, but if there's interest in the boxes I'd print a few blank ones and see if I can't cast a bunch for cheap. Attachments:

I just found justification for purchasing a 3d printer.

I vote me.

these dials are pretty sweet...
...until I think about how many MC's and vehicles I own at $8 a dial... lol

Looks like blank ones would be $2 for the big ones and $1.25 for the small ones in a grey color.
Custom designs would be around $25 for tooling (3D modelling included in this price) and $2.50 (big)/ $1.50 (small) each after that.

Going to have to do a small tweak on these as there's no spot for a "7, 8, or 9". No biggie, just needs changing.

No biggie, just needs changing. yeah 10's and 1's method have a few limitations with using regular six sided dice could just have a three slot and use totals... would get you to 18 at least! Too bad there wasn't some way to fabricate those magnetic discs (like a couple of the links above) those would go into the 20's and look pretty sweet (similar to the idea of an x-wing turn dial)

I'm just going to change it to hold 2x d10's. That way you have a tens and ones dice by virtue of the percentile dice already existing. Easy fix then they can't get mistaken for your actual dice

lol, nah. I'll just design and buy a pair of blanks then let everyone know when I have molds available. Likely the easiest. If you want something custom like a faction specific looking box we can talk over PM but I'm for sure getting blanks made and printed likely this week.
