Here we go again!!!
kingstonnexus.ca/events/warhammer-40k-tag-team-tournament/
September 30th and October 1st (it's the FULL weekend!) - Kingston Gaming Nexus!
9:30 AM start on both days
Teams will be four players. Your team is registered once each of your team members has prepaid either at Kingston Gaming Nexus or online at the Nexus website. We have to do prepay to ensure that people actually show up
Entry fee is $30 each player which covers you for both days - cheapest two day tourney anywhere!!!! Your team is capped at four players each - we will add more teams as more people sign up...(4 teams is pretty much the minimum required to run this thing) each player on the team brings a 1000 point list and you will be teamed up with each of your team members once during each day.
as an example:
Game one: Player A and Player B are a tag team, while Player C and D are another Game two: Player A and C are a tag team, while player B and D are another Game three: Player A and Player D are a tag team, while player B and C are another
so
The rule would be over the course of the tourney you'd have to play with each of the people on your team at least once each day.
Your TEAM plays another TEAM - captains roll off, loser has to put up the first pairing (but gets to pick the table!), countered by the winner of the roll off with their pairing, now the remaining pairing plays the remaining pairing of the other team.
The matchups now play one another and you total ALL the scores from the four games - this is your team score for the round!
Six rounds later, one team will be triumphant, and win the grand prize - Their team immortalized for all eternity on a trophy displayed at Kingston Gaming Nexus for all to bask in the glory of their victory!!!!!
Oh and there will be prizes... big prizes to be won in our traditional draw format... so everyone gets an equal chance to win!!!
-------------------------------------------
The details:
There are no restrictions as per who can ally with whom. If you have space marines and your team mate has daemons, it's all good!
Only one unique per team though... no, you can't bring four celestines
Each team member must have a legal battleforged 1,000 point list. As for the rules under matched play a 1,000 point list can only have up to TWO detachments in it.
6 games over two days - Saturday September 30th and Sunday October 1st
EACH of the book scenarios will be played... round one is scenario one... two is two... you get the idea...
EACH of the deployment types will be played
(each game a team nominates one of their HQ's to be the team's warlord for each game that will count as slay the warlord)
Warlord traits and psychic powers are chosen game by game, so you can customize based on what's best for your team.
Under strength units are not permitted.
Command Points - the base 3 points every army gets is per team - then you add for your detachments. So a team of one spearhead detachment each player gains 5 command points that either player can access.... not 8
-------------------------------------------
Entry fee is $30 per player (so $120 per team of four when they register - Team Captains have to ensure their team registers!!!!)
As teams are confirmed I will update this post
There will be another thread started here shortly which will give people the opportunity to build their teams if they are looking for members
on THIS thread - feel free to announce what your team will be once it is figured out and as always ask questions and make suggestions...

And there is absolutely no limit as to what types armies can team up as long as they are 1,000 points each?

And there is absolutely no limit as to what types armies can team up as long as they are 1,000 points each? yup... daemons and tyranids can be partners... not in the SAME 1k list mind you... but if you and your partner's armies are generally not allowed to combine, it's not a problem for THIS tourney.

I believe additionally your army is self contained in terms of allying with each other, meaning if you and your 3 best friends all play Ultra marines and one of you brings Guilliman only the the players army that has Guilliman in it gains his buffs NOT all ultra marines on the table. I think this is a blanket effect for all pskyers, special rules, ability, transports etc. Your 1000 pts can only effect your 1000 pts. This is in an effort to stop mono faction or keyword teams from rolling people because they can get more buffs and such on the table. Also to help people that only have 1 army to choice from making it hard to be more flexible within the team If I am wrong I am sure there will be a correction shortly.

Jordan is not wrong... he is in fact quite correct!
you are your own 1k army and what buffs you bring etc. effect only you...
we had a great blanket statement called "allies of convenience" which we've been able to use previous years - but that term is gone in 8th with the removals of allies.
but the bottom line is the same, because mainly imperium benefit from a whole host of combo rules that no one else would get otherwise.

Ya we can just say. Only your models count as friendly models for rules purposes. And your team mates models just don't count as enemy models.

I'm ignoring this... like I do everytime that word gets mentioned... I just plug my ears and go "la la la la la this army doesn't exist" so far it's working at keeping my nerdrage at manageable levels... lol but yes ________ can't benefit either.....

To continue the CP line of thought - is spending them one per phase per player, or per team?

yes, you are correct... base is for team... plus whatever command points their detachments would bring (works out to the same number of command points a single 2k list would have for the same units)
