And this is NOT a "pants optional" tournament! Sorry Shannon I'm out; I thought we discussed this ahead of time. Now I've got to paint models AND wear pants, not cool bro, not cool.

You can't blame me for this... there were too many complaints about your outfit from last year not being PG enough for the store!

Just as a clarification on prizes for those who've never come to this one before: ALL the prizes at this tourney are draws exclusively. Unlike club champs there's no tropies etc. for placing, but the winning team gets their names engraved on the nexus trophy. Each individual player will get draw tickets and will be able to enter individually for the draws for the prizes they want. So the prize pool is NOT team based, but based on what the individual person wants to win! As we don't do trophies/tshirts for this one, the prize pool is pretty impressive - Mike at Nexus is a fantastic supporter of the 40k scene in Kingston. You can lose every game and come out with the biggest prize there (and I believe last year we had new players having their first games of 40k walking out with prizes!) as everything is a draw. winning the thing is basically bragging rights only... we're there to have two full days of 40k fun, so don't feel that you need experience or the latest netlist to win prizes and have fun! You'll have tough games and bad matchups because lets face it, a rotating tag team can get pretty wacky - but in the end it's all in good fun and we have a great group of players here. If you're new to the scene here in Kingston and are interested in attending, post in the "looking for team" thread and I'm sure we can hook you up with a team: kingstonwarhammer.proboards.com/thread/8318/team-tourney-building-thread?page=1&scrollTo=73636

So I have a question. Not nessisary for this tournament but for all in this edition.
With the codcies coming out and the indexes already being out. Historicly a new data sheet or entry of a model you wanted to use over rode the old one.
For example the space marine codex is now out and someone wanted to play blood angels. Here are new dreadnought data sheet in said codex.
Does that mean if you want to play blood angels you will need to buy the space marine codex to play until the blood angels codex comes out.
Same with getting the csm codex if you wanted to play death guard or thousands suns. Space wolves also being in the space marine bungle.
Now this won't matter for me as I play normal Marines also. But was curious on how we would rule tournament wise since some new players may not want to buy a bunch of books.

Blood Angels aren't in the space marine codex, so they would use the index until their book came out for all their non-basic marines units. As their book isn't out yet, they are not forced to buy a book that isn't for their army (that's more than slightly unfair!) just to use a new dataslate which may or may not be in their book (as we've seen in the past, vanilla marine units are sometimes different between them and BA/SW in particular).
So I'd say in the meantime (like a couple months at most) if you are a BA or SW player, use the index. If you are upset by this and WANT to buy a codex for another army for the couple months (at most) it will take for you to get your dex, assuming that there are fundemental (not yet) changes to shared units (haven't seen one yet) then who am I to say you cannot waste your money, fly at it.
So player's choice. But if someone shows up at Team champs with a blood angels army and the index (assuming the BA book isn't out yet)... that's totally legal in my books....
Death Guard and Tsons are their own book now. They won't have units in the new CSM book for them. index until they come out (in a couple months). If you CHOOSE to buy the CSM book and CHOOSE to field units from it in your Tsons/Death guard army, feel free... cuz that's totally legal just like you can mix in daemons if you choose.

Well, since there isn't a hope in hell of the DA codex being out in time for the teams it's not an issue for me.
