Thanks guys. Tried some brighter yellows for the highlights over the GW stuff and can say I am happier with the turnout. debating now if I do want to build up the inceptor squad or the hellblasters next. I do know I want to get all my Primaris stuff done before I work on Blood Angels again.

First Inceptor done. Happy with how he turned out but still need to practice the blue flame glow for jump packs.

Super nice. Did you manage to attach the flight stand?

Super nice. Did you manage to attach the flight stand? Yep, Superglue did the trick. It feels like the rod will snap before the marine breaks from the point of contact. Thanks for the advice.

Decided to try my hand at Non-Metallic Metal Gold. After several attempts and some helpful advice and some book learning I managed to make this guy. A lot of room to improve and I rushed a few parts cough cough the wings cough cough. Still it was interesting to learn it but I still have to practice more to git gud. However I didn't really enjoy painting this as much cause of how time consuming it was. For now I think I'll just paint my other 3 guards with metallic paint and just to apply there what I learned here. (updated pic with better lighting quality))

Looks very cool... NMM always looks really good for pictures, and it's an impressive feat to pull off... but for actual enjoyment of the painting process and overall look on the table, I prefer metallics.

Looks awesome! I wish I could do NMM, but to be honest; I just don’t have the inclination to learn how to do it; though I have the utmost respect for anyone that can. Looks spot on man!

Thanks. I wanted to try it out cause I was considering painting my HQ's like Dante and the Sanguinor with the technique; so may as well practice it first. There are some real incredible NMM pieces out there but there is no way I could do an entire army that way. I rushed some areas here because it was so tedious to me to focus on one area with different paints just to bring out that metal effect. Still was good to learn but now I want try the technique out with another guard but use metallic paints.

well it's an extremely difficult technique to get right, so hats off to you for pulling it off well! (you must have a LOT of patience!)

Wow! Looks great to me. I've wanted to try NMM but I'm a bit intimidated. Any tips or tricks to pulling it off?

Wow! Looks great to me. I've wanted to try NMM but I'm a bit intimidated. Any tips or tricks to pulling it off? Thanks. It took me several attempts to understand the basics which means I was repainting the same area over and over (sometimes having to strip and reprime.) But a great way to start off is to learn how to glaze, I recommend this tutorial as it helped me out a lot. www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2G9CEdURNQAfter understanding that, you can get into learning NMM. I won't say too much as admittedly I still don't feel all that skilled with it. What I should of done was looked up a Sanguinary Guard done in NMM gold and try to duplicate it just to get a feeling for how something should look instead of trying to solo it. So whatever mini you want to paint using this technique, I advise doing that. razzaminipainting.blogspot.ca/2016/07/non-metallic-metals.html This guy gives a great lesson. All and all, it's a lot of reading and watching videos and as Shannon said, patients. It's one of the reasons why I am going to try out metallic paints again and see if I can produce a better result cause my attempt was quickly boring me. Good luck!

Decided to try out how blueish highlights would look on black armor and here is the result. Also wanted to have a DC squad of bolters seeing as they are arguably better for Death Company in 8th over bolt pistols. Jump Packs never die though.
