As all good xenos players know, eventually you always end up getting space marines too! lol Just have to poke at converting the Assault Intercessors into 'regular' Intercessors. Because the bladeguard and bikes can cover melee/skirmishing (while not hogging troop slots) and while I haven't really seen the AI in action, large squads of bolt rifles dish out the pain.

I kinda like the assault intercessors... but I'm always about melee armies vs. shooting armies, so that probably has something to do with it! lol

Sometimes I find looking at the 'in-progress' paint jobs to be just as interesting as the finished product. My golden brush submission is almost done, just need to muck around with the leg cables a bit more and finish the basing.
In regards to the stormtrooper, I was never going to use that killteam box I won in the conventional manner so why not? As for the putty legs, I didn't want to bother carving up the plastic legs so just that boot-tip will be sticking out of the bloodstained sands (arm wasn't the only thing that got messed up ). though I do find it a bit amusing that the vox-caster model uses that sort of phone design as part of his comm system.

For those wondering, I got the body color by doing two layers of agrax earthshade over leadbelcher while the blades were, white->Tesseract glow_> varied/thinned down Warp Lightning.
As for why I didn't simply use gold, I wanted them to be similar yet different than the 'normal' Necrons. Becuase Destroyers aren't exactly part of the dynasty anymore; but are insane monsters pointed in the general direction of what the Phaeron needs to die.

Well assembling the Silent King and his throne has been a mix of interesting and frustrating so far. The lower portion of the throne has been fun and I'm honestly surprised at how well the thing can balance (though it's going to be rather top heavy in the end) on just the comparatively thin energy beams etc.
The character models on the other hand.....I don't know who at GW thought that type of assembly was a good idea but they need a gibs slap or five. The Silent King was mostly alright but I don't dare attach the staff+arm until I get everything else ready to make sure it's level with what he'll be standing on and inside the cloak. His buddies on the other hand, more than once I needed to add plastic glue, ram several pieces together and then adjust placements because there isn't enough material present to act as proper sockets and connectors.
The good news is that there is a key location between the upper and lower portions of the throne that should have plenty of material to work with along with four peg connectors as a bonus.Carve out the space for a pair of magnets and I should be able to seperate this guy into two part for much easier transport.

Silent King was a pain to build for sure... painting in sub-assemblies is a must!

Silent King was a pain to build for sure... painting in sub-assemblies is a must! Oh yes, I'm keeping all the characters and cape separate, along with the 'tuning fork' holding the C'Tan, the energy beams that slot into the underside of the throne and the two halves of the throne itself.
Not quite as many segments as the T.Vault but there is going to be a lot of painters tape and sticky tack involved in this.

Yeah when I saw the silent king and void dragon models, I first thought those are some really rad models but after thinking about it and looking more detailed at the models I knew those thongs were going to be a paint to paint and build but I hope the rest goes smoothly for you and least you only need to build it once.

Right so a tip/heads up for anyone looking to magnetize/modify their Votann models. The way that the Champion's arms are assembled I couldn't see a way to give him swappable weapons without making the magnet obvious.
However for the Kahl, you can work something for the axe and gauntlet. The warriors have a bunch of extra arms holding cqc weapons (knives and such) and the shoulderpad is nearly identical in shape to the Kahl's. You just need to remove and carve out the arm from the shoulderpad. You can even pull something similar for the gun hand. Just need some finagling to get the pieces to work together.
Be warned though that the warrior pieces don't have the runes and etched face etc that are on the Kahl's pieces so best to use this stuff for weapons you don't bring that much. Also while the various bare heads can fit any model (so you can have female Kahls, Champions etc) the helemted warrior heads and the Ironkin will need a bit of help to fit on non-standard models.

Well the base design works and while not all my paint worked the way I wanted (couple of videos pointed out some better options for the red armor, flesh and leather that I can get) it's all acceptable.
Part of the reason I'm doing the initial testing on a warrior. Things screw up? He's replaceable.
Wanted a Christmas theme for all this so bright red, green cloth (only Santa is red and white, the elves wear green) and bits of silver and black.

Now I just need to put the finishing touches on the bases of the nine tiny pioneers; who with their searchlights so bright, will guide the Kahl's fortress tonight.
